Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Colin Wilkinson!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Jason Michael!
The judges for this bout are Paul Gruel, Jeff Smith and Roger Salmon.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Michael shoots in and bounces Wilkinson off the cage to secure the takedown into guard.
The referee is pacing around the two fighters - he looks like he's thinking about a standup.
Michael postures up.
Wilkinson manages to land a sweep and now he's in mount on top!
Wilkinson tries to control but Michael wriggling away.
Michael bucks up and manages to get a nice reversal! He's in guard on the top - nicely done!

Michael is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Wilkinson controls Michael momentarily but Michael frees himself.

Wilkinson is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.
Michael slips nicely into half guard.
Michael tries to pass the half guard into mount. Wilkinson knows what he's doing though and prevents the attempt.

Michael thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Wilkinson's head.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Wilkinson is looking to control Michael's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Wilkinson avoid being mounted?
Wilkinson is in a bad position, trying to hold on for dear life but he is really struggling to maintain any sort of control.
Michael looks over to his corner - he wants some instructions but his corner are not responding.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.

Wilkinson forces Michael back against the cage and clinches.
We've been informed that Michael has been working hard on his conditioning in the buildup to the fight.

Michael is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.
Michael throws a nice elbow but it doesn't land.

Michael wants the takedown. Wilkinson is fighting it off but Michael persists and manages to bring the fight to the ground, ending up in Wilkinson's guard against the cage.
Wilkinson is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

Michael distracts Wilkinson with his right hand and drops a big elbow with his other arm.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Michael controlling from the guard. I say controlling but really, he's stalling.

Michael seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Wilkinson does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.
Wilkinson is looking to get full guard. It looks like he might be successful but at the last minute Michael jumps into side control!
Wilkinson takes a couple of big shots there - the referee warns him that he has to defend himself better.
Wilkinson knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Michael on the ground.

Michael is trying to get an arm triangle but Wilkinson is defending well.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Wilkinson is looking to regain half guard here but Michael keeps moving and retains side control.

Michael thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead.
Michael is staying tight to Wilkinson's torso, preventing him from escaping.

Michael is looking to take a break and control but Wilkinson is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.

Michael looks up at the clock and then as Wilkinson takes his cue and looks up at the clock too, Michael smacks him right in the chops with a big elbow! How rude!

Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Wilkinson tries to control the position but Michael now has his back.

Wilkinson is trying to defend against the choke here but Michael has an arm under his chin. This one might not last much longer. Michael Tightens the hold and Wilkinson taps out furiously! Michael displays superior BJJ to win the fight.
