Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Bob Koff (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Vernon Cook (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). I can't wait for this one - let's get the fighter introductions out of the way and get this one started!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, for the light heavyweight championship of the world!
Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 8 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Bob Koff!
And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Vernon Cook!
The judges for this bout are Jeff Smith, Micheangelo Fripello and Roger Salmon.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Cook lands a body shot.
Bob Koff seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Koff scores a trip takedown into side control. Nice.
The referee must be thinking about standing these guys back up.
Koff creates some space and throws a big elbow, but Cook sees it coming and moves his head just enough to avoid the strike.
Cook tries to improve position but can't.
Cook really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Koff. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Koff moving around in side mount but really he's just happy to control for now.
Koff wants to lay and pray for a moment but Cook keeps working.

Koff is going oldschool here, as he tries to force Cook to tap using a forearm choke. This isn't 1993 though, so Cook shrugs it off.

Koff has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.

Cook holding onto his opponent's waist for dear life, as Koff tries to land some strikes to get him to release his grip.

Koff is thinking about an arm triangle here, looking to tighten it up before moving to side control. Cook can see it coming though and defends well with a couple of strikes to the head and some good arm positioning.
