PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Jamie Reyes (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Fei Yue (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Chooooooooon! I think Reyes might be my favorite fighter, now he's come out to Black and Yellow - Wiz Khalifa. Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 19 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Jamie Reyes!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 15 - 8 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Fei Yue!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
A punch lands to the side of Reyes 's head but he takes it in his stride.
Reyes misses with a low kick.
That's a knee to de groin and it's over and out! Yue crumples to the ground after an illegal strike from Reyes - the referee stops the clock and Yue gets 5 minutes to recover from that one. "I'm sorry" says Reyes. Yue manages to get back to his feet and the fight resumes.
Yue buckles his opponent's knee momentarily with a nice leg kick.
Jamie Reyes seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Reyes takes a swing at Yue's ribcage but misses.

OK we're going to have a standup here. Fei Yue hasn't been effective enough on the ground and the referee wants a restart.
Yue wants to land a leg kick but Reyes is out of range.

Yue feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.

Reyes is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

Yue shoots in but Reyes avoids the takedown attempt easily.

Reyes fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Yue manages to avoid it.
Reyes pivots as if he's going to throw a leg kick but stops half way.

Reyes is using his height advantage well here, landing a good percentage of his punches.

Reyes lands a vicious shot with the stealth of a sniper and the strength of a viper. Are vipers that strong? I can think of lots of things that are stronger than a viper - not many rhyme with sniper though.

I would just about give that final round to Fei Yue.
