Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.

The judges for this bout are William Peck, Gregory Folan and Robert Douchet.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Joslin tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Newson paws at him with a jab and circles away.

Newson leaves Joslin with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.

Joslin shoots for a double leg takedown but Newson sprawls well. He's pushed Joslin's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.

Joslin is working on a leg, looking for a takedown but Newson is defending well.

Joslin tries to pull guard but can't drag his opponent to the mat. Newson just stands there and leans against the cage.
Joslin jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Newson walks away with a smile on his face. Joslin gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head.

Joslin throws a sloppy head kick and Newson moves out of range easily.

Joslin shoots in and drives through. Newson sprawls well.

Joslin closes the distance and clinches up with Newson, looking for a takedown. Joslin pushes Newson against the cage but Newson circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.

Joslin gets tackled into the cage by Newson. Newson maintains the clinch.
The pace really dropping off here, momentarily.
Joslin is trying to push Newson away but Newson has him pressed against the cage, so he's going nowhere.

Joslin is rocked!

Joslin seems to have recovered his senses.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Newson has not gone for a single takedown so far in this fight, which seems like a very strange tactic when you consider that he has the superior wrestling and BJJ.

Oh, another knee lands and Joslin is covering up! The referee steps in to save him - possibly a bit early but Joslin doesn't seem to be complaining.
