The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
The fight moves into the clinch position.
Overeem misses with a knee to the head.
I was talking to Overeem's coach per-fight and he was telling me that they'd been working on the clinch in the runup to this fight.
Overeem pushes off and fires off an elbow that misses, before clinching up again, against the cage.
Dirty misses with the head strike.
Dirty misses with some punches.
Overeem lands a damaging elbow.
It looks like Joe Dirty has been cut.
Overeem lands a good knee to the midsection. Dirty won't want to take too many of those.
A head punch blocked on the inside by Dirty.

Overeem connects with a nasty looking knee right to Dirty's face.
Overeem has Dirty pressed up against the cage in a tight Thai clinch. Dirty is arching his back, trying to avoid the knees but a big one sneaks through from Overeem - that's hurt Dirty badly! Oh, another knee lands and Dirty is covering up! The referee steps in to save him - possibly a bit early but Dirty doesn't seem to be complaining.
Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:30 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Knees). Cees Overeem!
A relieved looking Cees Overeem thanked the fans for their support and gave the usual line about them being amazing. They seemed to believe that he actually meant it.
