PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Simon Adabisi (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Koji Muto (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Muto has chosen Sleepwalking through the Mekong as his entrance music. Both fighter's entrance songs getting the crowd jumping here.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 7 - 3 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Simon Adabisi!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 4 - 2 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Koji Muto!
The judges for this bout are Winston Alpacca, Sandra Marshall and Peter Branson.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Muto works his jab well there, keeping his opponent at a distance.
Muto throws a body punch but Adabisi moves out of range.
Adabisi takes a jab right on the nose. That must have hurt but he shrugs his shoulders and looks to return the favor.
Adabisi takes a shot right to the liver - Bas would have been proud of that punch.
Muto throws a body punch but Adabisi moves out of range.
Left hook, right uppercut from Muto.
Adabisi throws a series of punches but Muto avoids them all with ease.
Muto shoots in for a double leg but Adabisi sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.
Adabisi misses the jab.
Muto looking to land some kicks to the body here.
Muto misses the shot to the body.
Adabisi misses with the combination.
Muto fails miserably with a takedown attempt.

Muto scores with a hook to the body. Adabisi takes a step back and tries to catch his breath.
Adabisi seems to be moving with more speed, compared to his last bout. He must have been working on that in the gym.
Muto closes the distance and clinches up with Adabisi, looking for a takedown. Muto pushes Adabisi against the cage but Adabisi circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.

Muto looks to land a right hand but Adabisi moved out of range.
Muto swings and misses with a hook to the body.
Adabisi loads up on a big right hand but Muto slips the punch.

The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Muto's hands are dropping dangerously low here and Adabisi connects clean with a right hook that sends him down to one knee! Muto scrambles back to his feet.

Adabisi bobs and weaves well there to avoid the strikes.
Adabisi throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land.
Muto misses with a wild body shot.
Muto throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.
Adabisi takes a swing at Muto's ribcage but misses.

Muto ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Adabisi moves away.
Simon Adabisi is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
Adabisi closes the distance and lands a one-two.
Adabisi scores with a nice looking left hook and follows it up with an uppercut!
Adabisi moves out of range as Muto strikes.
Adabisi throws a right and a left that both miss.
Muto tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Adabisi swivels and escapes.
Adabisi needs to keep his hands up - Muto had a free shot at his head there.

Muto takes a step towards his opponent and connects with a left hand, before circling away.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!

Adabisi fakes low and throws an overhand right that catches Muto on the side of the head.
Adabisi throws a shot from downtown. Muto moves away and avoids it.
Muto throws a poor cross that misses
and Adabisi counters with a stiff right hand.
Muto takes a swing at Adabisi's ribcage but misses.
Muto has a takedown stuffed.
Nice shot lands for Adabisi.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!
Adabisi misses the shot to the body.
Muto lands with a hook. Adabisi tried to avoid it but it clipped the top of his head.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that Simon Adabisi will probably get the nod.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!

and Adabisi counters with a quick right hand to the jaw.
Muto swings away with a body shot that misses
and Adabisi counters with a one-two to the body.
Adabisi misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.
Adabisi takes a solid shot to the body. That one hurt him but he's trying not to show it.
Adabisi misses with a double jab.
Muto throws the left hand but Adabisi avoids the punch easily.
Muto throws a hook but Adabisi blocks it.
Muto throws a series of punches but Adabisi avoids them all with ease.
Muto throws a shot from downtown. Adabisi moves away and avoids it.
Muto shoots in and drives through. Adabisi sprawls well.
Adabisi avoids the body shot from Muto.
Adabisi lands with a good body shot.

Adabisi paws at his opponent with the jab and then lunges in with a straight, right on the button.
Adabisi moves his head to the side to avoid a jab but walks straight into a cross.
A looping hook to the body misses from Adabisi. Muto does a little dance to reset his feet.

and Adabisi counters with a left to the body.
Adabisi keeping a good distance there, avoiding the body shot.
Adabisi takes a jab on the nose there. A little bit of blood seems to be coming out. Hopefully that won't affect his breathing.
Muto looks more muscular than last time we saw him. He must have been on the weights.
Adabisi moves out of range of the strikes.
Adabisi ducks low and lands a nice hook to the body of his opponent.

enabling Adabisi to counter with a crisp jab.

Adabisi moves away from the strike by Muto.

Muto closes the distance and gets a trip takedown into side control. Adabisi quickly recovers to half guard.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.

Muto seems to be looking for submissions.
Adabisi is controlling Muto's trapped leg to prevent Muto from advancing to side control.

Muto tries to pass to full mount but Adabisi defends it.

Muto throwing punches and elbows but they're not doing any damage.
Adabisi is looking for a sweep. Muto is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.
Muto has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.
Muto not throwing his punches with enough precision this time.

Muto is thinking about going for an arm triangle but he can't free his leg.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Adabisi avoiding damage under a succession of punches from Muto.
Adabisi holds on for dear life, maintaining half guard for now.

Muto missing with the ground and pound from half guard.
Adabisi has hold of Muto's hands but Muto slips his arm to the side and lands an elbow.
Adabisi is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Muto wants to control but Adabisi is keeping him busy.
Muto is just content to waste time from the top position. Adabisi takes advantage of the situation and regains full guard.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Muto trying to control but Adabisi is working from the bottom.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Koji Muto showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business. This is the final round!


Muto drops his hands momentarily and Adabisi takes advantage with a crisp shot to the head.

Muto creates some space and throws a big elbow, but Adabisi sees it coming and moves his head just enough to avoid the strike.

Muto is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Adabisi is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now.

Muto postures up a little and throws a couple of hammerfists but they don't connect properly.

Muto working hard here to secure a kimura but he's not really in the right position for it.
Muto sitting in side control, looking to soften his opponent up with elbows and hammerfists but Adabisi is avoiding damage well and looking to escape the position.
Adabisi on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if Adabisi tries to get out of the position.
Adabisi managing to avoid any damage from the strikes thrown by Muto.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Muto throws a knee to the body but it doesn't do much damage.

Muto tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Muto has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!

And that's the end of the fight!
Koji Muto comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
I think Muto has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
