PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Ben Frengar (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Eddie Fantana (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Frengar gets to the clinch - let's see what his plan is here.
Frengar blocks an elbow strike.
Fantana tries to land a shot to the body but it's blocked.
Frengar blocks a knee to the body. He'll have a nicely bruised forearm in the morning.
A left hand lands to the body for Frengar.
Frengar holding his opponent close, against the cage.
Frengar pushes Fantana back against the cage and unloads with a body punch.
Fantana wants to get back to striking at distance but Frengar won't allow it.
Fantana looks like he'd prefer to be striking at range right now.
Frengar is trying to pull guard but being pressed up against the cage enables Fantana to keep the fight standing.
Some stalling of biblical proportions here from Frengar.
Fantana is trying to break the clinch but Frengar has him pressed against the cage.
Frengar blocks a punch to the side of the head.
Fantana is trying to force a seperation but Frengar has the dominant position.

Frengar gets the body lock takedown. After a quick scramble, Fantana regains guard.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
The referee is asking the fighters to pick up the pace.
Frengar stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Fantana swivels though and keeps the full guard.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Frengar controls the pace of the fight for a moment.
Frengar wants to pass the guard but Fantana is keeping the position.
Fantana looking to sweep here. No luck so far.
Fantana is trying to control the position but Frengar postures up.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.

Frengar bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Frengar moving around in side mount but really he's just happy to control for now.

Fantana is trying to escape and get back to his feet.

Frengar wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Fantana, who protects the arm well.

Frengar decides to stand back up.
Fantana looks winded!
Fantana keeps the fight on the outside.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Frengar throws a series of punches but Fantana avoids them all with ease.
Fantana misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
Fantana dives in and grabs Frengar's left leg, looking for a takedown. Frengar pushes down on Fantana's head and hops out.
Frengar swats away the attempt to clinch by Fantana.

and Frengar counters with a shoot takedown. Fantana fights it but they end up in guard.

Frengar is working Fantana over from the guard. He should look to pass the guard and do a little more damage with these strikes.
Fantana is trying to control the position from the bottom.
Frengar works a leg free and moves into half guard.
Frengar passes to side control.
Fantana is trying to escape and get back to his feet.

The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

Fantana reaches up around Frengar's neck trying to control. But Frengar takes advantage instantly and he's locked on an arm triangle! Big trouble for Fantana! Oh that looks nasty! A human being's head is not meant to turn that color! Fantana is out! He's gone limp! The ref steps in to break the fighters up and Frengar celebrates the victory with the fans!
