Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Franklin Weber (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jeet Bhatt (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Franklin Weber!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Jeet Bhatt!
The judges for this bout are Shigeki Fujiwara, Yukihiro Shimada and Hirohito Nitta.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Weber on the receiving end of a decent leg kick there by Bhatt. Bhatt obviously looking to wear him down.
Weber wants to clinch up but Bhatt keeps it at a distance.
Jeet Bhatt seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Bhatt dips down and scores with a jab to the body.

Bhatt rushes Weber and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch.
Weber could do with losing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.

Bhatt breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.

Bhatt changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Weber looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.
The referee wants the fighters to be more active or he's going to reset them on the feet.

Bhatt decides to stand up, so the ref orders Weber to his feet.

Weber looks for a takedown. He's got it. We're now in half guard.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Weber not throwing his punches with enough precision this time.

Weber is working for a submission of some sort.
Bhatt tries to get to full guard but Weber has control of the leg.

Weber is taking a breather. Bhatt says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something.
Weber stops Bhatt from getting back to his feet.
Bhatt gets back to full guard.

Weber stands up and waves to Bhatt to follow him.

Bhatt lands a leg kick that knocks Weber off balance momentarily.
Bhatt lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Weber circles away quickly and effectively.
Bhatt tries to land a leg kick but Weber saw it coming and moves away.

Bhatt fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Weber sprawls well initially but Bhatt persists and gets the takedown into half guard.
Weber is looking to escape.
Bhatt looks to land a strike but Weber avoids it nicely and regains full guard.

Weber looking for submissions off his back, moving his hips, looking for an opening.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
Weber wants to stand up but Bhatt is controlling him.
Bhatt is looking to work some ground and pound but Weber has wrist control.

Bhatt gets to his feet and steps away from his opponent.
Bhatt throws a half hearted mid kick.
No luck for Weber with that takedown attempt.
Bhatt tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion.
Weber blocks a head kick by Bhatt.
Bhatt throws a body kick that misses.
Bhatt looking to land some kicks to the body here.

Bhatt wants to clinch up but Weber keeps it at a distance.
Bhatt throws out a leg kick but Weber moves out of range and Bhatt only half commits.
Weber with poor footwork there. He got himself in a bit of a tangle, enabling Bhatt to score with a decent uppercut.

Bhatt shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in side control! That's better than Bhatt was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!
Weber gets back to half guard.
Weber is trying to stand.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Bhatt throws a big elbow that misses, also allowing Weber to regain full guard.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Weber wants to get back to his feet but Bhatt is in a dominant position and won't allow it.

Weber working for a triangle but Bhatt defends it easily.
Bhatt must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.
Bhatt wants to control from the top but Weber keeps moving.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Bhatt throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Weber works some decent striking defense from the bottom.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That's time! Weber's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.


Bhatt misses with a wild body shot.

A momentary lapse in concentration from Weber enables Bhatt to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. Weber manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat.
Jeet Bhatt has got the better of the ground game so far.
Weber utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.
Weber is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

and Weber counters with a nice body shot.
Bhatt throws a nice looking combination but Weber bobs and weaves to avoid any damage.
Bhatt lands with a head kick! That's gotta hurt.

Bhatt shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Let's see what he's got on the mat.

Weber had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Bhatt defends it easily.
Weber wants to stand up but Bhatt is controlling him.
Bhatt postures up in Weber's guard and throws a big left but Weber blocks it.
Bhatt wants to control from the top but Weber keeps moving.

Weber is scooting his butt against the cage and has managed to get back to his feet. Bhatt presses him back against the cage, presumably looking to take the fight back to the mat.

Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Weber is trying to push Bhatt away but Bhatt has him pressed against the cage, so he's going nowhere.

Weber is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up, due to lack of activity on the part of Franklin Weber.

Jeet Bhatt showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.

We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup.

Bhatt drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Bhatt jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.

Jeet Bhatt is fighting for a decision - hopefully he's judged it right and he's actually winning the fight.
Weber has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent.
