Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Mauricio Rua (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jorgen Kruth (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Mauricio Rua had real problems making weight for this fight. After initially coming in at 206.9lbs, he had two hours to make the official fight weight. He made it but it will have taken a lot out of him to cut those extra few pounds. Mauricio Rua looks tired to me. Hopefully he has got enough gas left in the tank to put in a good performance.

Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.

The judges for this bout are Gwen Towbar, Wesley Smith and Daniel Franklin.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Rua takes a kick to the side of the head.
Kruth misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out.
Kruth throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
Kruth walks forward and throws out a flicking leg kick. Rua checks it nicely though, as he moves to the side.
Rua blocks a low kick nicely.
Kruth tries to score with a leg kick but it misses it's target.
Rua fails with a takedown attempt from distance.
Kruth is looking to take this fight into the clinch.
Kruth misses with a straight right.
Kruth throws a hook but Rua avoids it easily.
Kruth tries a head kick but it misses.
Rua misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.

and Kruth counters with a good low kick that Rua was not able to check.

Rua tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Kruth paws at him with a jab and circles away.

Rua changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Kruth tries to avoid it but Rua manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Kruth to the ground. Kruth escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.

and Rua counters by moving into the clinch. Good anticipation by Rua.
Kruth tries a shoulder strike but it doesn't do any damage.
Rua drops down looking for an ankle pick but Kruth pulls his leg out and moves away.
Rua lands with a nice low kick. That'll leave a bruise.
Kruth connects with a good right hand that stumbles Rua. Rua circles away out of range and recomposes himself.
Rua rushes Kruth and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch.

Kruth takes a head kick and keeps coming.
Kruth lands a leg kick. The shin dug right into the meat of the thigh.

Kruth shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Rua but Rua pushes him off and we're back to square one.

and Kruth counters by moving into the clinch. Good anticipation by Kruth.

Rua drops to a knee looking for a takedown but Kruth gets the underhooks and prevents it.
Kruth pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.

Kruth closes the distance and clinches up with Rua, looking for a takedown. Kruth pushes Rua against the cage but Rua circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.

A close round but Jorgen Kruth will probably get the nod.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.
Rua gets caught flat footed, as Kruth shoots in with a quick takedown into guard.

Rua is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Kruth is just riding it out for now. Rua eventually gives up the hold.

Rua uses his free foot to push down on Kruth's thigh. Eventually he works his other foot free and he's advanced to mount - this is trouble for Kruth.
Kruth is looking to improve his position but Rua isn't that keen on the idea.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Rua lands a heavy elbow.

Rua looking to control but Kruth is working nicely, looking to advance position himself.
Rua is going to have to think about doing something other than just controlling because Kruth is managing to avoid having the position dictated to him.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
Rua looking to finish Kruth with some ground and pound. This is bad for Kruth!
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Kruth is trying to escape but when you're mounted that's not too easy.
Rua is working for a guillotine from mount but Kruth frees his head quite easily.
Rua is landing with some decent strikes but Kruth is trying to advance his position so the referee is letting the fight continue.

The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action! This is the final round!

Rua is still in mount, landing shots to his trapped opponent. Kruth can't stay in a position like this for much longer.
Kruth is bucking up trying to escape but Rua cracks him with another couple of good strikes.
Kruth takes a big shot to the head but keeps on trying to improve his position.

We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Kruth can do anything to dispel that myth.
Rua jumps to side control looking for an arm triangle but Kruth manages to avoid the submission attempt.
Kruth sneaks a leg under to get back to half guard.
Rua trying to control the action but Kruth is working from the bottom.
Kruth has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Rua is working away from the top position though.
And that's the end of the fight!
That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Mauricio Rua.
I think Rua has won this one but let's see what the judges have to say. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
