Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Anthony Power (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Donald Wagner (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Anthony Power!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Donald Wagner!
The judges for this bout are Winston Alpacca, Michael Johnstone and Daniel Franklin.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Wagner gets caught flat footed, as Power shoots in with a quick takedown into guard.
Power pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Wagner is keeping the position for now.
Wagner is trying to control the position from the bottom.

Power stands and steps away. Wagner gets to his feet too and we're back to the striking game.

Power shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in side control! That's better than Power was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Power stands up and we're back to a striking position.

Power moves into the clinch.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.

Power breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
Power throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.

Power shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Wagner's guard.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Power wants to get up but he can't break Wagner's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here.

Wagner has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Power can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.

Power is sneakily working for an arm triangle but Wagner sees it coming and defends easily.

Power looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.
Power wants to stand up but Wagner has a hold of him and won't allow it.

Wagner is trying to control but Power passes into side control!

Power moves into full mount!
Power avoids the attempt from Wagner to control.

Power throwing sloppy strikes here. Perhaps if he tightened up his striking from such a dominant position, he'd be able to finish easier.
Wagner is writhing around trying to get back to his feet.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Wagner tries to reverse the position but Power maintains control.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.


Wagner is trying hard to land a takedown here. Power sprawls well and keeps this one on the feet.

Power is trying to control the action in half guard but Wagner is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard.
Still in half guard, Power seems content to control.

We're going to have a standup here because Anthony Power wasn't active enough for the referee's liking.

Power moves into the clinch.

Power pulls guard.
Power wants to sweep here but Wagner controlling him for the moment.

Power seems keen to control rather than go for a submission, at least for now.
It looks like the ref is thinking about a standup.

The ref stands the fighters back up. Anthony Power wasn't doing enough on the ground.
Power pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Power fails with an attempt to clinch.
Wagner dives in and grabs Power's left leg, looking for a takedown. Power pushes down on Wagner's head and hops out.

Power gets a double leg takedown into Wagner's guard.
Power slips nicely into half guard.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Wagner is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Power pulls his head out easily.
Wagner has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Power is working away from the top position though.

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Power seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Wagner does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.
Power wants to free his trapped foot but Wagner is holding on for dear life with his legs.

Power is thinking about going for an arm triangle but he can't free his leg.
Power wants to advance to full mount but Wagner doesn't think that's going to happen and regains full guard instead.

Wagner is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Power is aware though and is defending well.
Power stays in close to Wagner's body and controls the position.

Wagner is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.
Power advances position into side control!
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Power is looking to take a break and control but Wagner is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
Wagner gets one leg under and gets the fight to half guard.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action. This is the final round!



Power has managed to clinch.
Power lands a good knee to the midsection. Wagner won't want to take too many of those.
Power is stalling here. The referee will be looking to step in if he doesn't pick up the pace.
Wagner jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Power walks away with a smile on his face. Wagner gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head.
Power scores to the head and body with a nice combination!
Power throws a sloppy head kick and Wagner moves out of range easily.

Power closes the distance and scores a nice trip takedown into half guard. Wagner did well to prevent Power getting side control.

Power stands up out of the half guard.

That's one minute gone in the round.

Power feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.

Wagner looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.
Power seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.

Power postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Wagner wants to get back to his feet but he's too absorbed in his own little project and Power manages to pass to side control.

Power stands up from the dominant position. He obviously fancies his chances standing.
Power lands with a kick to the temple. Wagner shrugs as if to say "is that all you've got?"
A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Wagner.

Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Wagner wings away with a couple of strikes but they don't land.

And that's the end of the fight!
Anthony Power showed his dominance in that final round.
Well Power has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
