PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Jock Mcfarker (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Josh Barnett (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Well, the cameraman is lingering on a pretty young lady for a bit too long there. Keep your eyes on the prize buddy or you'll miss the fighter intros!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Jock Mcfarker!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 3 - 0, fighting out of New York, Josh Barnett!
The judges for this bout are David Schapiro, Jonathan Paton and John Roberts.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Mcfarker fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Barnett avoids it really well and circles away.
Mcfarker fails to land with a series of punches.
Mcfarker misses with a double jab.
Barnett ducks under an overhand right and circles away with a smile on his face.
Mcfarker looks to have improved his striking defense since last time we saw him fight.
Mcfarker scores with a straight right hand, right through his opponent's guard.

Barnett drives through with a takedown into Mcfarker's guard. Let's see what he can do from the top position.
The referee is pacing around the two fighters - he looks like he's thinking about a standup.
Barnett controls from within his opponent's guard.
Barnett passes Mcfarker's left leg - he's now in half guard.

Mcfarker looking for submissions from an awkward position here.

Barnett is sneakily working for an arm triangle but Mcfarker sees it coming and defends easily.
Mcfarker wants to get back to his feet.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.
Barnett works his way into side control.
Barnett really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Mcfarker. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Barnett lands a few punches from side control.
Mcfarker regains half guard.
Barnett wants to control but Mcfarker is keeping him busy.
Mcfarker really is a fat lump.

Barnett scoring with strikes to the body and head.

Barnett is thinking about going for an arm triangle but he can't free his leg.
The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
Mcfarker trying to hold on to Barnett's head to control him but Barnett postures up.
Barnett takes advantage of the dominant position to land a couple of big hammer fists.

Barnett trying to mount his opponent but Mcfarker defends it.

Mcfarker actively working from the bottom here.
Barnett is pressing down on Mcfarker's thigh, looking to free his foot. Mcfarker is holding on for now.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Barnett winds up and cracks Mcfarker with a swinging punch to the side of the head.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Josh Barnett dominated that round.
OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.


Mcfarker scores with a reasonable looking shot to the body. Barnett doesn't seem bothered though.
A telegraphed takedown attempt from Barnett is defended easily by Mcfarker.
Mcfarker lands a jab.
Jock Mcfarker is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Barnett displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Mcfarker.
Mcfarker throws a big shot that misses.
Mcfarker falls off balance throwing a combination

and Barnett counters with a shoot takedown. Mcfarker fights it but they end up in guard.
Barnett must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.

Barnett connects with a couple of short punches.
Mcfarker keeping moving, preventing Barnett from controlling successfully.
Barnett tries to free his leg and advance position but Mcfarker is retaining full guard.
Barnett engaging in some classic timewasting tactics.
If this pace continues, the referee will definitely step in and force a standup.

OK we're going to have a standup here. Josh Barnett hasn't been effective enough on the ground and the referee wants a restart.
Mcfarker tries to clinch there but Barnett circles away.

Barnett drives through with a takedown into Mcfarker's guard. Let's see what he can do from the top position.
Mcfarker not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.

Barnett thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.

Barnett avoids a guillotine attempt easily.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Barnett trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet.

Barnett in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Barnett passes Mcfarker's right leg, so he's now in half guard.

Barnett tries to pass the half guard into mount. Mcfarker knows what he's doing though and prevents the attempt.

Barnett is working for a submission here. He's got hold of the far side arm and he's looking for a kimura. He's cranking on the arm and he's got it! Mcfarker is tapping out! Ouch, that looked like it hurt!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:31 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (Kimura). Josh Barnett!
