PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Ben Stien (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Pablo Sir (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Sir comes into a darkened arena with his song building. Kickstart kicks in, the lights come on and the crowd goes wild! What a showman! Ben Stien has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 13 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Ben Stien!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 17 - 17 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Pablo Sir!
The judges for this bout are Ben Hemmingworth, Darius Henderson and Chris Dean.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Sir gets caught on his heels momentarily as he allows Stien to score an easy takedown into full guard.
The referee wants the fighters to be more active or he's going to reset them on the feet.
Stien throws a big right hand that misses.
Sir bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Stien's guard.
Sir connects with a couple of short punches.
Stien looking to sweep here. No luck so far.
Stien has a closed guard, preventing anything of note from happening. Perhaps he's looking to stall.
Sir throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Stien works some decent striking defense from the bottom.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Sir throws a strike but Stien rolls with it and manages to sweep. Now he's in guard on top.

Sir escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Stien gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.
Sir has momentary wrist control but Stien slips an elbow through the middle.

Sir is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Stien defends well.
Stien working from the guard for now, landing some ground and pound.

Sir is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Stien is aware though and is defending well.

Sir keeping moving, preventing Stien from controlling successfully.
Stien trying to land body shots but he keeps hitting the mat.
Stien wants to control from the top but Sir keeps moving.
Stien distracts Sir with his right hand and drops a big elbow with his other arm.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Stien is working Sir over from the guard. He should look to pass the guard and do a little more damage with these strikes.
Stien stands up over Sir, holding his feet. He dives back in and lands a decent shot to the head.

Stien working hard here to secure a kimura but he's not really in the right position for it.
Sir tries to bench press Stien off him but Stien keeps the position.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Sir takes an elbow right on the bridge of the nose and winces in pain.
Stien lands a knee to the body and follows it up with some ground and pound to the head. That will wear Sir down.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Stien tries for a kimura but Sir is defending well.

Stien is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Sir is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now.

Stien tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Stien has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!

Sir is looking for a sweep.
Sir sneaks a leg under to get back to half guard.
Stien working over Sir with some ground and pound. Sir looks like he wants out of this position, which is understandable.

Stien is keeping good posture, landing some ground and pound.
Sir has been taking part in the yoga sessions down at Team Hopkins. Presumably he's going to look for a slick submission... Or maybe he's looking to avoid one.
Sir wants to improve his position but Stien is controlling well.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!
Stien is keen to just control but Sir is a slippery customer.

Stien is trying to work for a kimura. This could be trouble! No, Sir has managed to free his arm - good work.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!


Stien's hands are dropping dangerously low here and Sir connects clean with a right hook that sends him down to one knee! Stien scrambles back to his feet.
Sir throws a lazy right hand but Stien sees it coming a mile off and sidesteps it easily.
Stien uses good footwork to avoid the strikes from Sir.

Stien closes the distance and gets a trip takedown into side control. Sir quickly recovers to half guard.
Stien lands strikes from half guard.
Sir wants to get back to full guard.
Stien is looking to stall here but Sir recovers full guard.
Stien stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Sir swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Stien working in close now, lands a nice elbow to the side of Sir's head.

Stien looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Sir with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.
Stien seems to be taking a bit of a break to think of his next move. He lands a short punch in the meantime.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Stien is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Sir defends it well.

Sir is refusing to be controlled, as Stien sits in half guard.
Stien slips a nice elbow through Sir's hands, connecting with Sir's forehead.

Stien is looking for a kimura but Sir is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Stien to get the leverage.
Sir is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of Stien's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take Stien's back!

Stien is trying to get back to his feet but Sir has full control of the position and if anything, Stien has just worked his way into a worse spot.
Sir controlling well, preventing Stien from escaping the position.

Sir goes for a risky armbar from back mount and it's not paid off. Stien escapes and is now in half guard on top.
Sir on the receiving end of some nice ground and pound.
Stien landing with strikes to the body and head, softening up his opponent.
Stien prevents Sir from improving his position.

Sir has hold of Stien's hands but Stien slips his arm to the side and lands an elbow.

Stien with a couple of shots to the head there. Not particularly brutal.
Stien is sitting in guard, working some ground and pound.
Stien postures up from his opponent's guard, before exploding into some vicious ground and pound! Sir covers up, he's hurt! Stien keeps throwing the strikes, glancing at the referee... Will he stop it?? One more big shot from Stien and the ref steps in to end the fight! Stien can't hide his delight as he celebrates with his corner.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:59 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Ben Stien!
During a confident post fight interview, Ben Stien thanked all his fans. He seemed very genuine when describing how motivated his fans keep him.
