The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Abucay fakes a couple of low kicks, before throwing one on the third attempt. It connects and Rance has to reset his feet before getting ready to engage.
Rance dodges the punch combination from Abucay.

Rance shoots in and scores a nice double leg takedown into half guard.
We must be close to a standup if these guys don't pick up the pace.

Rance wants to pass to mount but Abucay is defending the position.

The referee walks around the fighters to get a better view of the action. Rance lands a nice short elbow.

Abucay working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Rance doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Rance manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
