Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, for the lightweight championship of the world!
Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Byron Bluth!
And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 4 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Tajhon Blahs!
The judges for this bout are Edson Gomes, Mauricio Rocha and Matheus Silva.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Blahs.
Blahs tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Bluth paws at him with a jab and circles away.
Bluth tries to clinch but Blahs is having none of it.

Blahs feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.
Blahs throwing strikes but missing.
Bluth wants to sweep but no luck.
Blahs with a flurry of punches that miss.
Blahs controlling from the guard. I say controlling but really, he's stalling.
Blahs stopping the sweep attempt from Bluth.

Bluth controls Blahs momentarily but Blahs frees himself.

Bluth looking for submissions off his back, moving his hips, looking for an opening.
Bluth tries to land a sweep but no joy.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.
Blahs throws a two punch combo that lands nicely.
Bluth throws an uppercut from half a mile away. Blahs sees it coming and avoids it easily.
Blahs wants to clinch
and Bluth counters with a three punch combo that has Blahs backing up. Blahs nods at Bluth to acknowledge the strikes.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Blahs shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it.
Blahs tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion.
Blahs doesn't succeed with the takedown
and Bluth counters with a nice body shot.
Byron Bluth has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Tajhon Blahs.
Blahs tries to clinch but Bluth moves away

so Bluth counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Blahs is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
Bluth postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.

Blahs avoiding any damage from the ground and pound.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Blahs looking for a sweep. Not yet Blahs, not yet.
Blahs utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.
Blahs is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
Blahs looks gassed!

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Bluth avoids a punch combination nicely.
Blahs throws an overhand right that lands on Bluth's shoulder, as Bluth tries to avoid the shot.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
Bluth ducks under a wild hook from Blahs.
Bluth fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.

Blahs looks for a takedown. He's got it. We're now in half guard.
Bluth on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if Bluth tries to get out of the position.
Blahs works his way into side control.
Bluth tries to slip a leg under to move to half guard but Blahs presses down on the leg and jumps into full mount!
Bluth is in a horrible position here. Blahs smacks him with another shot as he tries to escape the position.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A close round but Tajhon Blahs will probably get the nod.

and Bluth counters with a straight right hand.
The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
Bluth shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Blahs but Blahs pushes him off and we're back to square one.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
No luck for Blahs with that takedown attempt.

Bluth throws a lazy right hand but Blahs sees it coming a mile off and sidesteps it easily.

The fight stays on the outside here - Blahs looks like he's thinking about clinching though.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.
Blahs tries to clinch
and Bluth counters with a nice jab to the body that keeps Blahs thinking.
Bluth lands with a straight right. Blahs didn't see that one coming.
Blahs misses with a double jab
and Bluth counters with a three punch combo that has Blahs backing up. Blahs nods at Bluth to acknowledge the strikes.
Blahs fails with the takedown
and Bluth counters with a nice uppercut.
Byron Bluth has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Tajhon Blahs.
Blahs is breathing heavily.
Blahs shoots in but doesn't get the takedown
and Bluth connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle.

Bluth throws a series of punches but Blahs moves out of range.
Bluth tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.
Bluth keeps the fight on the outside.

Blahs fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Bluth sprawls well initially but Blahs persists and gets the takedown into half guard.
Bluth won't allow Blahs to pass to mount.
Blahs is scoring with some nice ground and pound from the dominant position.
Blahs is figuring out what he wants to do next.
Bluth is trying to stand.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Blahs passes to full mount!
The crowd growing excited in anticipation of a finish here! Right on cue, Blahs cracks his opponent with a massive right hand that draws loud cheers!
Blahs takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.
Bluth swinging wildly from the bottom but he's not landing.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A close second round but Tajhon Blahs will probably get the nod - 10:9.
Well, the break between rounds is over. Let's get back to the scrappin! This is the final round!


Bluth looks to land a right hand but Blahs moved out of range.
Bluth throws out a powerful jab.

and Bluth counters with a nice single leg takedown and he's in Blahs's guard now.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.
Bluth throws a hook but Blahs blocks it.
Tajhon Blahs seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.
Blahs throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Bluth's waist but Bluth gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Blahs off to one side.
Blahs tries to clinch but fails miserably
and Bluth counters with a series of strikes. Blahs will be more careful next time no doubt.
A telegraphed right hand from Blahs misses the target.
Bluth misses with a wild body shot.
Bluth falls off balance throwing a combination

and Blahs counters with a driving takedown into guard. Nice work there by Blahs.

Bluth is trying to keep Blahs in close.

Bluth is looking to stand up but Blahs isn't so interested in that idea.
Blahs looking to control the position here, rather than advance.
Bluth wants to sweep here but Blahs controlling him for the moment.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
Blahs passes Bluth's left leg - he's now in half guard.
Bluth is trying to defend against the ground and pound but Blahs scores with a couple of nice shots.
Byron Bluth has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
Tajhon Blahs is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.

Blahs seems to be looking for submissions.
Blahs controlling the action here.
Tajhon Blahs has got the better of the ground game so far.
Bluth throws a strike from the bottom that misses.

I would just about give that final round to Tajhon Blahs.
I've got Blahs winning every round here. Surely the decision will go his way and he'll pick up a well deserved decision victory. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
