Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Shane Fitzpatrick!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Viktor Vaughn!
The judges for this bout are Cecil Peabody, George Francis and Chris Downing.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Fitzpatrick fails with the takedown

and Vaughn counters with a single leg into guard. Fitzpatrick didn't expect that.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Vaughn passes Fitzpatrick's right leg, so he's now in half guard.
Fitzpatrick is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.
Fitzpatrick is refusing to be controlled, as Vaughn sits in half guard.
Vaughn is keeping good posture, landing some ground and pound.

Vaughn looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Vaughn is thinking about going for an arm triangle but he can't free his leg.
Vaughn is pressing down on Fitzpatrick's thigh, looking to free his foot. Fitzpatrick is holding on for now.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Fitzpatrick is trying to get back to full guard.
Vaughn looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Fitzpatrick with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.
Vaughn is figuring out what he wants to do next.
Fitzpatrick wants to get back to his feet.

Vaughn is looking for a kimura but he's never going to get it from there.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Vaughn moves nicely into side control.
Fitzpatrick is looking for a sweep.

Vaughn is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Fitzpatrick knows the correct defense though, so he's OK.

Vaughn tries for a kimura but Fitzpatrick is defending well.

That's two minutes gone in the round.

Vaughn is in a dominant position here, looking for a kimura. Fitzpatrick looks calm but he's in trouble here. Vaughn gets his leg over his opponent's head and yanks on the arm. Fitzpatrick is tapping like a morse code operator on the titanic! SOS! SOS! Vaughn lets go of the hold and Fitzpatrick can pop his arm back in it's socket.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:23 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Kimura). Viktor Vaughn!
