PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Oscar Quinn (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Alessandro Segurini (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Oscar Quinn!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Alessandro Segurini!
The judges for this bout are Thiago Cunha, Matheus Silva and Leandro Rodrigues.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Segurini fails with the takedown.
Segurini tries to score a power double leg takedown but Quinn sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Segurini somewhat.

Quinn closes the distance and clinches.

Segurini is trying to trip Quinn. He has hold of a leg but Quinn is hopping around, keeping his balance for the moment. Segurini persists though and gets the takedown into guard.
Quinn not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.
Quinn is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

Segurini wants to control from the top but Quinn keeps moving.

Quinn has his feet on Segurini's hips. He pushes off and gets to his feet. Nice work.
Segurini throws a leg kick that is checked

and Quinn holds on and brings the fighters into a clinch.
Quinn has a body lock and is looking for a takedown. Segurini is bouncing around trying to prevent the takedown and somehow he has indeed managed to stay on his feet.

Quinn lands a knee to the head.
Segurini tries to circle away but Quinn has him pinned against the cage.
Quinn wants to break free. God knows he wants to breaaaak freeee.

Segurini tightens his grip and picks Quinn up, before dumping him to the ground. Quinn manages to land in guard.
Quinn pulls Segurini in to control the position.
Segurini slows down the pace of the fight, as he sits in guard.

If this pace continues, the referee will definitely step in and force a standup.

We're going to have a standup here because Oscar Quinn wasn't active enough for the referee's liking.

Quinn is working for a takedown up against the cage. He can't get it on this occasion though.
Segurini is trying to pull guard but Quinn has him pressed against the cage.

Quinn is stalling here. Segurini is in no mood to hang around though. He's locked up a kimura from the bottom! Quinn seems to be keeping calm but he's forced to roll out of the hold and Segurini has ended up in side control on the top. Nice work.
Quinn manages to get back to half guard.
Quinn wants to control but Segurini is keeping busy and won't allow it.
Segurini wants to free his trapped foot but Quinn is holding on for dear life with his legs.
Segurini thows a wild elbow that connects with the canvas.
Segurini not landing any meaningful shots this time.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Quinn flails away from the bottom but he's not doing any damage.
Quinn is trying to stand up here but Segurini is controlling him well.
Segurini looks over to his corner - he wants some instructions but his corner are not responding.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A close round but Alessandro Segurini will probably get the nod.
That's time! Quinn's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.

A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Quinn accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.

Quinn drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Quinn jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.

enabling Quinn to counter with a crisp jab.
Quinn tries to drive through with a takedown attempt but Segurini defends well and Quinn ends up having to push Segurini into the cage where they will battle it out in the clinch.

Quinn escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Segurini tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Quinn swivels and escapes.
Segurini shoots for a takedown but Quinn saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.
Segurini swats away the attempt to clinch by Quinn.

Quinn shoots in and bounces Segurini off the cage to secure the takedown into guard.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Quinn is trying to work for a kimura. This could be trouble! No, Segurini has managed to free his arm - good work.

Well Quinn has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
