Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Amos Miles (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Brian Nielsen (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Amos Miles has a significant reach advantage - let's see if he can make it count.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Amos Miles!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Brian Nielsen!
The judges for this bout are Winston Howard, Ben Hemmingworth and Ben Watson.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Nielsen bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.
We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.
Miles is looking to regain half guard here but Nielsen keeps moving and retains side control.
Nielsen wants to lay and pray for a moment but Miles keeps working.
Miles really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.
Miles wants to control but Nielsen postures up.
Miles tries to get back to half guard but can't.
Nielsen tries to advance to mount but can't.

Nielsen stands up.

Nielsen shoots in for a takedown and gets it.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Nielsen moves nicely into side control.

You can see the frustration on Miles's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.
Nielsen controls the position.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Miles is trying to improve his position.
Miles wants to control but Nielsen postures up.
Miles is moving his hips around well on the bottom and has managed to get back to half guard.

Miles looking for submissions from an awkward position here.
Nielsen is looking to take a break and control but Miles is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
Nielsen might have to switch it up a bit here because his efforts to control Miles haven't been going to plan, at least at the current moment in time.

Nielsen wants to pass the guard but Miles is defending well.
Nielsen trying to control the pace.

Miles is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Nielsen pulls his head out easily.
Nielsen is trying to control. Miles wants to improve his position but can't escape this time.
Miles wants to stand back up but Nielsen manages to pass into side control.
Miles is trying to control Nielsen's posture but Nielsen avoids it.
Miles bucks up and tries to throw Nielsen off but instead Nielsen has got his back!

Miles tries to escape but Nielsen has the hooks in and won't let him break free.
Miles breaks Nielsen's hooks off and manages to turn into his guard.
Nielsen throws a couple of shots from the bottom but they don't land.
Miles wanted to stand there but Nielsen had control of the position.
Miles seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.
Miles stopping the sweep attempt from Nielsen.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Nielsen is trying to hold Miles in close to prevent damage but Miles has managed to pass into half guard.

Miles decides he's had enough of the ground and stands up.

Nielsen manages to get an easy takedown there - catching Miles on his heels. He'll look to pass Miles's guard now, I'm sure.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Miles striking off his back but it's not causing Nielsen any problems.
Nielsen trying to control but Miles is working from the bottom.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Brian Nielsen dominated that round.
That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.


Nielsen throws a left and a right that both miss
and Miles counters with a kick to the head that grazes his opponent. Nielsen is lucky that one didn't land flush.

Miles gets caught on his heels momentarily as he allows Nielsen to score an easy takedown into full guard.

Miles is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Nielsen pulls his head out easily.

Miles trying to hold on to Nielsen's head to control him but Nielsen postures up.

Nielsen trying to pass the guard but Miles defending well.
Nielsen wants to stand but Miles has hold of a leg and an arm, so he's trapped for now.
Brian Nielsen has got the better of the ground game so far.
Miles punching from the bottom.

Miles gets back to full guard.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Miles pulls Nielsen in close to his closed guard and prevents Nielsen from doing any damage or advancing position.

Miles working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Nielsen doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Nielsen manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.

Nielsen throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Miles works some decent striking defense from the bottom.

Miles controls Nielsen momentarily but Nielsen frees himself.

Miles is active off his back here, looking for submissions.
Miles working the defensive guard well to avoid strikes from Nielsen.
Miles keeping moving, preventing Nielsen from controlling successfully.
There's a bit of a scramble here and now Miles is on top in guard.
Nielsen bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Miles's guard.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Miles trying to strike from the bottom but really, it's not the best position to be doing that from!
Miles is adopting a defensive guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Nielsen stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Miles swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Nielsen is stalling in the full guard.

Miles is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Nielsen trying to control the position from guard on top but Miles is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Nielsen is looking to work some ground and pound but Miles has wrist control.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close second round but I would say that Amos Miles will probably get the nod.
That's time! Back to the action! The crowd applaud as we get ready to start the final round!



Miles gets tackled into the cage by Nielsen. Nielsen maintains the clinch.

Nielsen pulls guard effortlessly.
Nielsen is looking to stand back up... there's a bit of a scramble and Miles dives into side control.
Nielsen tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Miles wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control.

Miles tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Miles has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!
Nielsen is positioning himself to get back to half guard.

That's one minute gone in the round.

Miles decides to take the fight back to the feet.
Nielsen takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.

Nielsen drops down and drives through with a powerful takedown into guard.

Nielsen has a momentary lapse of concentration, allowing Miles to throw up a leg and lock on what appears to be a pretty tight triangle! Nielsen is fighting it off but it's all too little too late - Miles pulls down on the head and he's put Nielsen to sleep! This one is all over!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:56 of round 3, we have a winner by way of Submission (Triangle). Amos Miles!
