PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Potato Khan (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Henri Zizou (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Chooooooooon! I think Khan might be my favorite fighter, now he's come out to Meatloaf - The Monster Is Loose. Well, I have no idea who's going to take this one!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of New York, Potato Khan!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of New York, Henri Zizou!
The judges for this bout are Bruno Lombardi, Lou da Vinci and David Schapiro.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Zizou lands a glancing blow to the side of Khan's head.
Horrible takedown by Zizou or perhaps it was just good defense by Khan which made him look bad.
Zizou throws an uppercut from half a mile away. Khan sees it coming and avoids it easily.
Henri Zizou seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Zizou moves into range and throws a combination. A nice jab followed by a hook to the body.
Zizou shoots in looking for a takedown. Khan tries to sprawl out of it but Zizou keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Khan manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
Khan uses good footwork to avoid the strikes from Zizou.

Zizou gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard.
Zizou controls Khan momentarily but Khan frees himself.
Khan wants to control from the top but Zizou keeps moving.

Khan postures up as if he's going to throw some strikes but drops back for an ankle! Zizou is in big trouble! He looks ready to tap! But no, he's escaped and dives on top of Khan, into his guard.

Zizou drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Zizou jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.

Khan is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of Zizou's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take Zizou's back!

Khan is working really hard to secure the rear naked choke. Zizou defends successfully for a significant amount of time. Both fighters are looking very determined.
Zizou manages to reverse the position and now he's in Khan's guard. Nice work there by Zizou.

A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Zizou accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.

Khan working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Zizou doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Zizou manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.

Khan slips a jab and a cross from Zizou.
Zizou throws a low kick, looking for Khan's leg but Khan calmly moves out of range.

Khan shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Let's see what he's got on the mat.

Zizou not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.
Khan throws a strike but Zizou rolls with it and manages to sweep. Now he's in guard on top.

Khan has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Zizou can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.

Khan is trying to control the action in half guard but Zizou is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard.

Zizou makes his way to full guard. A much better position for Zizou.

Zizou wants to control here, rather than go for any submissions from the bottom. At least for now.
Khan has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player.

Khan drops back for a leg but he's not going to get it - he lets go and Zizou dives on top into guard.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.

Khan is looking for a sweep. Zizou is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground.
Zizou scores with a punch to the head.
Khan avoids a lazy jab quite easily.
Zizou on the receiving end of a decent leg kick there by Khan. Khan obviously looking to wear him down.

Khan throws a head kick that connects with a bit of head and a bit of hand.

Khan shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Oh and he's advanced to full mount straight away.
Zizou has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.
Khan misses with a series of strikes from mount. He'll no doubt be working on his ground and pound when he gets back to the gym.
Zizou is desperately trying to get back to half guard.
BOOM! Khan connects with a massive shot to the dome!

That was a close second round but I would say that Potato Khan will probably get the nod.
That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business. So, we enter the final round. Let's see if either fighter can bring us a finish, or whether we're going to the judges scorecards.

Zizou takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.
Zizou takes an elbow right on the bridge of the nose and winces in pain.
Check out the look on Khan's face as he threw that strike - that's one determined fighter!

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.

Khan has gone for a leg lock! Zizou slips out almost immediately though and dives into Khan's guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Khan has his foot on Zizou's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Zizou works his way back into a safe position though.

Zizou drops back looking for a leg! Khan is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Khan manages to kick Zizou off! Zizou jumps back into Khan's guard.

Khan slips a foot under and gets full guard. Nice work.
Khan thows some rabbit punches from the bottom but they don't do any damage.
