The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Reynolds fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Maxiq sprawls well initially but Reynolds persists and gets the takedown into half guard.
Maxiq wants to get back to full guard.
Reynolds working some ground and pound from close in. He's looking to maintain this position and strike for a while by the looks of things... although he'll probably advance to full mount in a minute now I've said that.

It looks like Reynolds might be adopting somewhat of a lay and pray gameplan here, which I'm sure won't go down too well with the paying fans in attendance... Or the ring announcers come to think of it.

OK we're going to have a standup here. Darren Reynolds hasn't been effective enough on the ground and the referee wants a restart.
Maxiq clobbers Reynolds with an overhand right that has the crowd gasping. That made a horrendous noise.

It looks like Darren Reynolds has been cut.

Reynolds turns his back and goes for a hip toss. It's a bit messy but it gets the job done and Reynolds manages to end up in side control.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Reynolds is working to isolate an arm here. It's a telegraphed submission attempt but he's gone for it anyway - and he's got it! Reynolds extends the arm and Maxiq is forced to tap!

Darren Reynolds spent the whole post fight interview bigging himself up. It didn't go down that well with the fans after a while as they thought it was a bit arrogant.
