The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Buma closes the distance and scores a nice trip takedown into half guard. Van Damme did well to prevent Buma getting side control.
We may be looking at a referee standup if the pace doesn't pick up soon.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Buma sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed Van Damme's guard.
Buma slows the pace down in half guard.
Buma's corner are shouting for him to control the position and he seems happy to oblige.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Buma works his foot free and advances to mount.

Buma takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.

Van Damme takes a big shot to the head but keeps on trying to improve his position.
The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.

That must have been tighter than I thought! Excellent work there by Buma! Submission of the night perhaps?
