Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Roman Burza (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Antonio Vegata (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Burza comes to the cage accompanied by Guns N' Roses - Welcome To The Jungle. Antonio Vegata acknowledges the crowd's support as he enters the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 23 - 17 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Roman Burza!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 20 - 16 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Antonio Vegata!
The judges for this bout are Alexandre Firmino, Mauricio Rocha and Edson Gomes.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Burza throws a shot from downtown. Vegata moves away and avoids it.
A telegraphed right hand from Burza misses the target.
Burza jabbing away but nothing is landing.
Burza rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Vegata moves out of range and avoids them all easily.
Burza looks to land a combination but Vegata avoids it well.
Vegata is trying hard to land a takedown here. Burza sprawls well and keeps this one on the feet.

Sloppy strikes from Burza. Those never looked like landing.
Burza looks to have improved his striking defense since last time we saw him fight.
Vegata looks to land a left hand but Burza moved out of range nicely.

Vegata throws an uppercut from half a mile away. Burza sees it coming and avoids it easily.
Burza throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Vegata.
Burza takes one on the chin but seems OK.
Vegata throws the left hand but Burza avoids the punch easily.
Burza takes a step towards his opponent and connects with a left hand, before circling away.
Burza will need to close the distance a bit before he attacks - that leg kick was thrown from too far away.
Vegata connects with a hook to the side of his opponent's head.

Burza looks to land a combination but Vegata avoids it well.

Vegata shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Vegata showed some decent athleticism there.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Burza is looking to control Vegata's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Burza avoid being mounted?

Burza wants to control but Vegata is keeping busy.

Vegata is in close to Burza's body, working some short punches and elbows.
Vegata is pushing down on Burza's leg trying to pass to half guard. Burza is fighting to maintain full guard but Vegata has managed to sneak the leg through.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Let's hope that Vegata has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight.
Vegata thows a huge punch but Burza dodges it nicely.
Vegata thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Burza's head.
Burza manages to get to full guard.
Burza is looking to sweep but instead, Vegata has passed into half guard.
Burza is trying to control but can't.
Vegata is looking to take a break and control but Burza is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.

Burza is trying to stand back up but Vegata is controlling him
Vegata looks over to his corner - he wants some instructions but his corner are not responding.
Burza is looking to improve his position.
Burza works his way to full guard. Good work.
Burza lands a beautiful switch and he's in full mount! That could spell trouble for Vegata!
Vegata is trying desperately to improve position.
Vegata has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.
Vegata swinging wildly from the bottom but he's not landing.

Burza get's back to his feet.
Burza throws a hard body shot but it just misses.
Burza misses with a wild combination.

Vegata throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Burza was covering up waiting for the punch and Vegata finishes the takedown easily into guard.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Vegata tries to free his leg and advance position but Burza is retaining full guard.
Vegata won't allow Burza to get back to his feet.

Vegata is holding a leg here, probably looking for an ankle lock - he drops back and goes for it! Burza is in trouble! Is it all over??? No! Burza has escaped and now he's on top!
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!
Vegata has his hands on Burza's head, controlling the position.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Antonio Vegata dominated that round.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.


Vegata swings wildly with a right hand that was never going to find it's target.

Vegata is looking for a takedown here. He's shot in and has managed to get it, finishing up in Burza's half guard.
Vegata takes advantage of the dominant position to land a couple of big hammer fists.
Vegata takes a deep breath and rests his weight momentarily on top of his opponent, to control the position.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Burza has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Vegata is working away from the top position though.

Vegata is working for a kimura here but Burza manages to reverse the position and he's now in Vegata's guard.
Burza has decided he wants to stand but the closed guard of Vegata is proving hard to escape from.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Vegata has a closed guard, preventing Burza from standing up.

Burza wants to get up but he can't break Vegata's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here.

The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

Burza lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Vegata circles away quickly and effectively.

Vegata throws a lazy right hand but Burza sees it coming a mile off and sidesteps it easily.

A big shot lands for Vegata! That's hurt Burza! Will he recover? Vegata fires away with more strikes and the referee has to step in to stop the fight!
