Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Arthur Halo (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Hugo Smith (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Hugo Smith acknowledges the crowd's support as he enters the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Arthur Halo!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Hugo Smith!
The judges for this bout are Josh West, Roger Salmon and Micheangelo Fripello.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Halo closes the distance and scores a nice trip takedown into half guard. Smith did well to prevent Halo getting side control.
Smith should think about turning a few of those tyres round his middle into muscle if he wants people to take him seriously as an athlete.
Smith tries to get to full guard but Halo has control of the leg.
Smith wants to stand back up but Halo manages to pass into side control.
Halo wants to control but Smith is keeping him busy.
Smith tries to get back to half guard but can't.

Smith is not content to let Halo control the position.

Smith dodges the ground and pound from Halo.

Halo tries for a kimura. Not really close to a finish though.
Smith gets one leg under and gets the fight to half guard.

Halo looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.
Halo stalling away here and it's allowed Smith to slip out his trapped foot and regain full guard.

Halo drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Halo jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.

Smith pushes Halo off looking to stand but Halo dives back in and keeps control.

Halo wants to free his trapped foot but Smith is holding on for dear life with his legs.

Smith really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Halo. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Halo shoots for a double leg takedown but Smith sprawls well. He's pushed Halo's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.
Smith fakes low and throws an overhand right that catches Halo on the side of the head.

Halo misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out.

Smith tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Halo was well out of range. Poor timing from Smith.
Halo has been working on his balance at Facebreaker Academy : Striking, so perhaps that has help him stuff some of the takedown attempts by Smith.
Smith loads up on a big right hand but Halo slips the punch.

Smith throws a right hand that Halo ducks under and follows up with a left that Halo also avoids with ease.
Smith misses with a straight right.
Hugo Smith seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Halo avoids a lazy jab quite easily.
Smith tries to clinch there but Halo circles away.
Smith connects with a looping left hand that seems like it dazed Halo momentarily.
Halo keeps the fight on the outside.
Smith misses with an uppercut.
Smith takes one on the chin but seems OK.
Smith swings for the body but Halo moves out of range.
Smith tries to clinch but fails miserably

and Halo counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Smith can't keep his opponent in guard - Halo advances to half guard, no doubt looking to mount.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Halo is thinking about going for an arm triangle but he can't free his leg.
Arthur Halo overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.

Smith tries to kick Halo off but Halo keeps his base steady and stays in half guard.

Smith tries to bum rush Halo with a series of wild strikes but Halo uses good footwork to avoid the assault.

Halo shoots in but no luck this time.
Smith throws a jab when Halo was well out of range.
Halo avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
Smith pulls out of a head kick attempt.

and Halo counters with a nice single leg takedown and he's in Smith's guard now.
Halo passes easily into side control. Nice work.
