Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Aaron Alverez (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Azamat Bagov (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Well, I have no idea who's going to take this one!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 5 - 10 - 0, fighting out of New York, Aaron Alverez!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 5 - 2 - 0, fighting out of New York, Azamat Bagov!
The judges for this bout are Bruno Lombardi, Lou da Vinci and David Schapiro.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
We've got one fighter who appears to only be looking to counter and the other not looking particularly aggressive either, so we could be in for a dull fight.

Alverez shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Let's see what he's got on the mat.
We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.
The referee is pacing around the two fighters - he looks like he's thinking about a standup.

Bagov looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.
Alverez really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.

Bagov is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Alverez wants to control from the top but Bagov keeps moving.

Bagov escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Alverez gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.

Bagov told us pre-fight that he has been working on his escapes in training. Let's see if he can call on some of his new skills to get back to his feet.

Alverez is going to have to think about doing something other than just controlling because Bagov is managing to avoid having the position dictated to him.

Alverez got a little sloppy there for a moment and Bagov has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Alverez has managed to get both his arms back between Bagov's legs - danger averted.

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Alverez seems content to maintain position for now, rather than mounting any offense.
Alverez has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent.

The referee wants the fighters to be more active or he's going to reset them on the feet.

Alverez closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.
Bagov is sneaking out the side here. He's bucked Alverez off and has taken his back!

Bagov is working for the rear naked choke. He has one arm under the chin but Alverez has hold of the other arm. A bit of a stalemate here.
Alverez has his hands over his head blocking the strikes from Bagov.

Bagov is working really hard to secure the rear naked choke. Alverez defends successfully for a significant amount of time. Both fighters are looking very determined.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.

Azamat Bagov showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action! This is the final round!



Alverez changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Bagov looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.
