Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Leroy Reyes (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Santiago Palmer (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Santiago Palmer has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Leroy Reyes!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Santiago Palmer!
The judges for this bout are George Francis, Gwen Towbar and Chris Downing.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Palmer changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Reyes looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
We must be close to a standup if these guys don't pick up the pace.
Palmer tries to advance to mount but Reyes denies him.
Reyes wants to control but Palmer postures up.
Palmer is maintaining the dominant position - no doubt Reyes will start to get frustrated soon if he's not already.

Palmer is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Reyes knows the correct defense though, so he's OK.
Reyes prevents Palmer from improving position.

Palmer working the strikes but Reyes uses the opportunity to regain half guard.
Palmer is controlling the pace.
Reyes keeps control of the position for the meantime.

The ref calls for a clean break and stands the fighters back up. Santiago Palmer wasn't active enough on the ground.

Palmer shoots in with a lovely double leg takedown. Reyes manages to land in full guard to minimise the damage.

Palmer working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage.

Palmer stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Reyes swivels though and keeps the full guard.

We may be looking at a referee standup if the pace doesn't pick up soon.

Palmer shoots in with a lovely double leg takedown. Reyes manages to land in full guard to minimise the damage.

Palmer fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Reyes sprawls well initially but Palmer persists and gets the takedown into half guard.
The referee calls for the fighters to work.
The referee must be thinking about standing these guys back up.
Palmer throwing shots but Reyes is blocking nicely.
Palmer is figuring out what he wants to do next.

The ref stands the fighters back up, due to lack of action by Santiago Palmer.

Palmer shoots in for a takedown from distance. He catches Reyes napping and manages to drive through into side control!
Palmer tries to advance to mount but Reyes denies him.
Palmer is staying tight to Reyes's torso, preventing him from escaping.
Palmer's corner are shouting for him to control the position and he seems happy to oblige.

Reyes tries to get back to half guard but can't.
Palmer controls the position.

The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.

Palmer wants to pass the guard but Reyes is keeping the position.

The ref stands the fighters back up, due to lack of action by Santiago Palmer.

Palmer is pushing down on Reyes's leg trying to pass to half guard. Reyes is fighting to maintain full guard but Palmer has managed to sneak the leg through.

The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Santiago Palmer showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action! This is the final round!



Reyes gets caught flat footed, as Palmer shoots in with a quick takedown into guard.

Santiago Palmer has got the better of the ground game so far.
Let's hope that Palmer has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight.
The referee claps his hands together and tells the fighters to work.
Palmer stands and throws Reyes's legs to the side, diving into side control.

A lull in the action here.

Palmer wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Reyes, who protects the arm well.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.
Palmer taking a breather here.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

That's three minutes gone in the round.

The ref stands the fighters back up. Santiago Palmer was stalling too much, according to the referee.

Palmer gets the takedown into side control.
Reyes tries to control but end up mounted... ooooh, that's bad.
Palmer takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.

That's four minutes gone in the round.

And that's the end of the fight!
Santiago Palmer comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
Well Palmer has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
