The judges for this bout are Paul Gruel, Ryoma Takatsuka and Roger Salmon.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Figurino drives through with a takedown into guard.
We must be close to a standup if these guys don't pick up the pace.

Figurino has decided he wants to stand but the closed guard of Richardson is proving hard to escape from.

Richardson had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Figurino defends it easily.
Richardson could do with losing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.

OK we're going to have a standup here. Figurino Figurino hasn't been effective enough on the ground and the referee wants a restart.

and Richardson counters with a leg kick.
Figurino is looking for a takedown here. He's shot in and has managed to get it, finishing up in Richardson's half guard.

Richardson has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Figurino is working away from the top position though.
Figurino is sneakily working for an arm triangle but Richardson sees it coming and defends easily.
Figurino seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Richardson does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.

The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.

Richardson might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.
