The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Hughes throws an off balance right hand
and Hicks counters with a series of strikes. Hughes will be more careful next time no doubt.
Hughes clinches.

A short body shot lands from Hughes as the two fighters clinch.
Hughes lands a nice uppercut.
Hicks is looking to score with knees to the body. Maybe he'll change it up and go body then head. Hughes is defending well for now.

Hicks is trying to drag Hughes to the mat but Hughes just about manages to keep his footing. He used the cage to his advantage there.

and Hughes counters with a nice jab to the body that keeps Hicks thinking.

Hughes takes a step towards his opponent and connects with a left hand, before circling away.

enabling Hughes to counter with a crisp jab.
The fighters circling - Hughes throws out the jab but it was never going to land.
Hicks shoots in but doesn't get the takedown
and Hughes counters with a shot to the ribs. That looked like it hurt.
Hicks has his head slapped from side to side by a 3 punch combination. That must have hurt him.
Hughes has taken the fight to the clinch.
Hughes lands with a quick shot inside that doesn't really do much damage.
Hicks is working for takedown but Hughes is calmly controlling the position for now.

Hughes creates some distance for himselfand unleashes a massive uppercut that sends Hicks's eyes rolling into the back of his head! Hicks drops to his knees and Hughes pours it on with more strikes until the referee steps in to end the bout!
