Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Mo Lester (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Yan Beliveau (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Mo Lester could well score a knockout today. He has the power to get to Yan Beliveau's chin.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 7 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Mo Lester!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Yan Beliveau!
The judges for this bout are Michael Johnstone, Sandra Marshall and David Hoff.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Beliveau drives through with a takedown into guard.
Lester looks exhausted already! Oh dear, he should have come in in better shape than this!
Beliveau wants to control from the top but Lester keeps moving.
Beliveau must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.

It looks like Beliveau might be adopting somewhat of a lay and pray gameplan here, which I'm sure won't go down too well with the paying fans in attendance... Or the ring announcers come to think of it.

OK we're going to have a standup here. Yan Beliveau hasn't been effective enough on the ground and the referee wants a restart.

Lester tries to keep at a distance but Beliveau has taken the fight into the clinch.
Beliveau is trying to work for a single leg takedown but Lester pulls him back up using the underhooks.

Beliveau breaks from the clinch.
Lester throws a sloppy head kick and Beliveau moves out of range easily.
Beliveau shoots in for a takedown but Lester shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.
Mo Lester has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Yan Beliveau.

Beliveau manages to get an easy takedown there - catching Lester on his heels. He'll look to pass Lester's guard now, I'm sure.

Lester got a little sloppy there for a moment and Beliveau has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Lester has managed to get both his arms back between Beliveau's legs - danger averted.

The ref stands the fighters back up. Yan Beliveau was stalling too much, according to the referee.
Beliveau tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Lester paws at him with a jab and circles away.

Beliveau decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard.
Beliveau wants to pass the guard but Lester is defending well.
Lester is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.
The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.

Beliveau is looking to advance position but Lester won't allow it.

Neither fighter is being very active at the moment, with Beliveau in particular looking to stall.

Beliveau is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Lester is just riding it out for now. Beliveau eventually gives up the hold.

Mo Lester has forced the referee to step in and bring the fight back to the feet.

Beliveau shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in side control! That's better than Beliveau was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!

Lester is not content to let Beliveau control the position.
Yan Beliveau has got the better of the ground game so far.
Lester really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.

Beliveau tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Beliveau has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!
Lester is not content to let Beliveau control the position.

You can see the frustration on Lester's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.
Beliveau wants to control but Lester is keeping him busy.

Beliveau cracks Lester with a big elbow.

Beliveau is looking for a kimura. He might have it! No, Lester has escaped the position, nice work there.
Lester misses with a strike from the bottom.
Beliveau advances to full mount.
Beliveau works his way to his opponent's back.

Beliveau lands a punch that was close to the back of the head but the ref thinks it's OK.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Yan Beliveau showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.

Lester looks to be in better condition than last time we saw him fight. Obviously he's been working hard on his cardio.
Beliveau shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Lester sprawls well. Lester wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Beliveau gets slowly back to his feet.

Lester tries to get to full guard but Beliveau has control of the leg.

Beliveau is looking to take a break and control but Lester is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.

Mo Lester has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
Yan Beliveau is fighting for a decision - hopefully he's judged it right and he's actually winning the fight.
Lester throws a sloppy strike from the bottom. He's now off balance and Beliveau manages to pass to side control.

Well Beliveau has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
