PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Dr Dre (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jack Milpid (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Milpid has chosen Stupify as his entrance music. Jack Milpid will no doubt be trying to keep this one on the feet, where he has a distinct advantage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.

The judges for this bout are Bart Greer, Dirk Anderson and Santiago Holmes.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Milpid fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Dre avoids it really well and circles away.
Milpid shoots in but doesn't get the takedown

and Dre counters with a nice double leg into half guard.
Milpid wants to get back to his feet.
Dre throws a big elbow that misses, also allowing Milpid to regain full guard.
Dre is working Milpid over from the guard. He should look to pass the guard and do a little more damage with these strikes.
Dre definitely looks more muscular than last time we saw him fight.
Dre engaging in some classic timewasting tactics.

Dre has gone for a leg lock! Milpid slips out almost immediately though and dives into Dre's guard.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Milpid stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Dre swivels though and keeps the full guard.

Milpid wants to control from the top but Dre keeps moving.
Milpid wants to pass the guard but Dre is keeping the position.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.
Milpid fails to land the takedown.
Dr Dre has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Jack Milpid.

Milpid gets a double leg takedown into Dre's guard.
Dre wants to control here, rather than go for any submissions from the bottom. At least for now.
Dre has a butterfly guard looking to sweep but Milpid has passed into side control.

Milpid postures up a little and throws a couple of hammerfists but they don't connect properly.
Milpid is trying to ground and pound but Dre uses the momentary lack of control by Milpid to regain half guard.
Dre is doing well to control the position and prevent Milpid from advancing to side control.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
The referee walks around the fighters to get a better view of the action. Milpid lands a nice short elbow.

Milpid seems to be looking for submissions.
Milpid not landing any meaningful shots this time.
Dre is trying to get back to full guard.
Dre controlling the leg, holding on to half guard.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

That was a close round but I would say that Dr Dre will probably get the nod.
That's time! Dre's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.

Dre shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Milpid defends it nicely.

Dre closes the distance and clinches up with Milpid, looking for a takedown. Dre pushes Milpid against the cage but Milpid circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Dr Dre. That's going to take a lot out of him.

The fight stays on the outside here - Milpid looks like he's thinking about clinching though.

Milpid wants to escape from the position here - easier said than done!

Milpid parries the strikes from Dre easily there. Dre is wary of posturing up too much because it might enable Milpid to escape.
Dre creates some space and throws a big elbow, but Milpid sees it coming and moves his head just enough to avoid the strike.

Dre is looking for a kimura. He might have it! No, Milpid has escaped the position, nice work there.
Milpid is moving his hips around well on the bottom and has managed to get back to half guard.

Dre scores with a couple of good hammerfists.

Dre is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.

Dre seems to be working for a kimura but Milpid defends the submission attempt.

Dre postures up as if he's going to throw some strikes but drops back for an ankle! Milpid is in big trouble! He looks ready to tap! But no, he's escaped and dives on top of Dre, into his guard.

Milpid stands over his opponent and dives in with a flying punch! Dre throws up his legs and catches Milpid in a triangle! Oh this looks tight! Milpid tries to escape but he's forced to tap! Wow, fantastic work there by Dre! That came out of nowhere!
