The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Gyu scores with a nice one two combo and darts back out of range to avoid anything coming in the opposite direction.

Karoa drops down and drives through with a powerful takedown into guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Karoa connects with a couple of short punches.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Gyu working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Karoa doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Karoa manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.

Karoa drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Karoa jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.
Karoa advances to half guard.

Karoa is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Gyu defends it well.

Karoa is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Gyu doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Karoa.
