PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Ying Yang (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Warren Peace (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). The atmosphere really building for this one as we go over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Ying Yang!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Warren Peace!
The judges for this bout are Alan Glass, Stewart Dunkirk and Robert Twigg.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Yang closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.
Peace is not content to let Yang control the position.
Peace sneaks a leg under to get back to half guard.
Yang is keen to just control but Peace is a slippery customer.
Yang tries to stand but his arm is trapped.
Peace keeping control of the position.
Yang slows the pace down in half guard.
Yang trying to pass the guard but Peace defending well.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Peace is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up, due to lack of activity on the part of Ying Yang.

Excellent takedown into side control there by Yang.
Yang will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.
Peace tries to improve position but can't.
Peace manages to get back to half guard.
Peace tries to get to full guard but Yang has control of the leg.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Peace wants to control but Yang is keeping busy and won't allow it.
Peace moves his hips nicely and gets into full guard.

Peace scrambles and gets back to his feet.
Peace should think about turning a few of those tyres round his middle into muscle if he wants people to take him seriously as an athlete.
Peace fails in his attempt to clinch.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Yang throws a head kick that looked like it stung.

Yang gets the takedown into side control.
Peace manages to get one leg in to regain half guard.
Peace has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Yang is working away from the top position though.
Peace pushes Yang off looking to stand but Yang dives back in and keeps control.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
It looks like Yang is going to stand back up.

The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
Yang looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.
Yang is breathing heavily.
Peace is pressing down on Yang's left leg trying to get back to full guard. He's managed it.
Peace is trying to keep Yang in close.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Peace wants to stand up but Yang is controlling him.
Peace is trying to keep Yang in close.
Yang looking to pass the guard.
Yang trying to control the position from guard on top but Peace is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Yang knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Peace on the ground.
Peace not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
The referee looks like he's ready to step in and stand the fighters back up.

The ref calls for a clean break and stands the fighters back up. Warren Peace wasn't active enough on the ground.
Nice takedown defense from Yang. No joy for Peace on that attempt.

Yang closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Ying Yang dominated that round.

A telegraphed takedown attempt from Peace is defended easily by Yang.
Ying Yang is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.

Yang looking for a takedown here - he's got it.
Yang is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.

Peace throws his legs up looking to secure a triangle. Oh, that looks pretty tight, I gotta say! Yang escapes and throws Peace's legs to the side, diving into side control!
Peace wants to get back to his feet.

Yang is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Peace is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now.
Ying Yang overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.

Peace is trying to control Yang's posture but Yang avoids it.
Peace tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Yang wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control.
Yang is looking to take a break and control but Peace is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
A bit of a lull in the action here.
Peace is putting a lot of effort into getting back to his feet here.

Peace tries to control but end up mounted... ooooh, that's bad.

Yang jumps to the side looking to secure the arm triangle…. Ooooh, that looks tight… Peace is gargling but he's managed to escape! Nice work there by Peace and Yang has given up the dominant position trying to land that submission.

Yang avoids a guillotine attempt easily.
Peace controls Yang momentarily but Yang frees himself.

Yang wants to control from the top but Peace keeps moving.
Peace is trying to control the position but Yang postures up.
Yang trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.
Peace is looking to take this fight into the clinch.

Yang closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Peace is trying to stand.
Peace is looking to control Yang's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Peace avoid being mounted?

Yang seems to be working for a kimura but Peace defends the submission attempt.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A close second round but Warren Peace will probably get the nod - 10:9.
That's time! Back to the action! Let's get this one finished - here comes the final round!


Peace slaps away a takedown attempt from Yang, before circling back to the center of the mat.
Peace fails in his attempt to clinch.

Yang gets in close and instigates a clinch.
Peace is working for a takedown up against the cage. He can't get it on this occasion though.
Peace is working hard here but doesn't seem to be able to control effectively, up against the cage.

Yang has picked Peace up - he's going for a ride! Yang dumps his opponent to the mat with a thud and settles into half guard.

Yang stands up and beckons Peace to join him on the feet.
Peace shoots and misses
and Yang counters with a two punch combo.

Yang looking to score a takedown here. Peace is defending well but Yang drives through and ends up in Peace's guard.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Peace is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

Peace trying to keep a closed guard but Yang is proving a slippery customer.
Yang stopping the sweep attempt from Peace.
Yang wants to pass the guard but Peace is keeping the position.
Peace is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.
Peace is keen to just control but Yang is a slippery customer.

Peace moves into full mount! Yang won't be happy about that!

Peace can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Yang is looking to escape.

Yang is writhing around trying to get back to his feet.
Peace wants to control the pace but Yang is squirming around nicely.

Peace trying to control momentarily.

Peace looking for the choke from the back.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Yang defends a rear naked choke attempt by controlling one of Peace's arms.
Yang tries to escape the position.

The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
A lull in the action here.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:29 of round 3, we have a winner by way of Submission (RNC). Warren Peace!
In his post fight interview, Warren Peace started talking himself up. Luckily his charisma kept the crowd on side and gave him a good reception.
