The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Pachan throws a leg kick that misses.
Smith throws a leg kick but Pachan sees it coming and moves out of range.

Smith decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard.
Pachan won't allow Smith to pass to mount.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Smith postures up and decides to stand up, from the half guard. The ref calls for Pachan to stand up.
Pachan thows a body shot but no joy.

Smith clinches up with Pachan and pushes him back against the cage.

Smith gets control of Pachan's arms and successfully pulls guard. Smith will no doubt be looking for submissions off his back.

Smith working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Pachan doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Pachan manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.

Smith is working for what looks like an arm triangle here. Pachan is trying to escape and Smith transitions quickly into an armbar! He's slapped it on tight and Pachan is forced to tap! Nice work there by Smith! Very nice indeed!
