PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Alonzo Dalton (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Anton Murray (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Well, the cameraman is lingering on a pretty young lady for a bit too long there. Keep your eyes on the prize buddy or you'll miss the fighter intros!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Alonzo Dalton!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Anton Murray!
The judges for this bout are John Mangel, Winston Howard and Bruno Hogan.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Murray changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Dalton looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.
Dalton is trying to buck Murray off.
Dalton tries to get back to half guard but can't.
Murray misses with the ground and pound.
Murray should think about turning a few of those tyres round his middle into muscle if he wants people to take him seriously as an athlete.
Murray postures up a little and throws a couple of hammerfists but they don't connect properly.
Dalton gets back to half guard.
Murray trying to mount his opponent but Dalton defends it.

Murray is thinking about going for an arm triangle but he can't free his leg.
Dalton is staying active underneath Murray, who seems content to just control the action from this position.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.

Dalton looking to work for a kimura from the bottom.
Dalton is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.
Dalton is refusing to be controlled, as Murray sits in half guard.

Murray is working for a kimura here but Dalton manages to reverse the position and he's now in Murray's guard.

Dalton postures up and lands some nice ground and pound.

Dalton thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Dalton accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.
Dalton postures up and lands a big shot to Murray's brow.

The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.

Murray shoots in and gets a takedown into Dalton's guard.

Dalton is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.

Dalton has an omoplata and is looking to use it perhaps as a submission or perhaps to transition. Murray is in a bit of discomfort here, but he's managed to free himself and has dived into side control! That didn't work out too well for Dalton.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Dalton tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Murray wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control.

Murray has Dalton up against the cage in a clinch.
Dalton tries to circle away but Murray has him pinned against the cage.
Murray lands with a short punch from the clinch.
Murray throws a knee to the head but misses.
Murray is pushing Dalton up against the cage, for a bit of lean and pray action. Action being used the in the loosest possible sense of the word.

Murray has picked Dalton up - he's going for a ride! Murray dumps his opponent to the mat with a thud and settles into half guard.

Anton Murray showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action! So, we enter the final round. Let's see if either fighter can bring us a finish, or whether we're going to the judges scorecards.



Murray rushes Dalton and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch.
Dalton lands with a short shot to the head.
Dalton jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Murray walks away with a smile on his face. Dalton gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head.

Murray gets a clinch.
Good anti-grappling being displayed by Dalton as Murray tries to tie him up.
Dalton tries to take the fight to the ground by pulling guard but can't manage it.
Murray has had enough of the clinch and is looking to separate.

Dalton pulls guard effortlessly.
Murray trying to control but Dalton is working from the bottom.
Murray might have to switch it up a bit here because his efforts to control Dalton haven't been going to plan, at least at the current moment in time.
Dalton will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.
Murray takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.

Murray wants to stand but Dalton is controlling his posture from full guard.

The ref stands the fighters back up. Anton Murray was stalling too much, according to the referee.

Murray stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Dalton swivels though and keeps the full guard.

Murray wants to get up but he can't break Dalton's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here.

The ref calls for a clean break and stands the fighters back up. Anton Murray wasn't active enough on the ground.
Dalton sizes up Murray with a pawing jab and scores with a straight right down the middle.

Murray shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Dalton's guard.

Dalton drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Dalton jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.

I would just about give that final round to Anton Murray.
I think Murray has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
