Coming up we have a super heavyweight MMA rules bout between Herbert Burns (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Antoine Petasse (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Herbert Burns has a significant reach advantage - let's see if he can make it count.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, in the super heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Herbert Burns!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 4 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Antoine Petasse!
The judges for this bout are Robert Douchet, Alec Ball and William Peck.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Petasse wants to slow Burns down by chopping away at his legs.
Petasse misses with a low kick.
The sound of bone on bone echoes around the arena as Burns checks a leg kick.
Petasse lands a nice leg kick that just misses Burns's sensitive parts.
Burns avoids a low kick by using good footwork.

Petasse gets caught on his heels momentarily as he allows Burns to score an easy takedown into full guard.
The referee is asking the fighters to pick up the pace.

Burns drops back looking for a heel hook - he quickly realises he's not going to get it but Petasse manages to dive on top of him before he can escape and now Burns has Petasse in his guard.

Burns is looking for a triangle but Petasse pushes his legs off easily.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Petasse got a little sloppy there for a moment and Burns has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Petasse has managed to get both his arms back between Burns's legs - danger averted.

Burns pulls Petasse in close to his closed guard and prevents Petasse from doing any damage or advancing position.
Petasse wants to control from the top but Burns keeps moving.

Burns has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Petasse can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.
My spies in Werewolf's cave inform me that Petasse has been getting involved in the gym's BJJ sparring sessions. Let's see whether that pays dividends!

Petasse is looking to finish the fight by rear naked choke. Burns knows exactly what he's got planned though, so he's defending well. Maybe a few strikes would soften Burns for a finish.

Burns shoots for a takedown but Petasse saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.
Burns shoots in and drives through. Petasse sprawls well.

Burns shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Petasse as he avoids it easily.

Burns drops his hands and takes a jab to the jaw for his troubles.

Burns drops back, looking for a kneebar! Petasse looks panicked! The fighters roll across the mat, one looking to finish, one looking to escape. Petasse looks to have wriggled free... Yes, he's got his leg free and he's dived into side control! Good work there from Petasse!

That was a close round but Herbert Burns did the better work so I'd imagine he'll take it.
OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.


Burns throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Petasse's waist but Petasse gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Burns off to one side.
Petasse walks forward and throws out a flicking leg kick. Burns checks it nicely though, as he moves to the side.
Petasse misses with a low kick.
Burns fails miserably with a takedown attempt.

Petasse throws a wild combination but nothing lands.
Herbert Burns seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Petasse is absolutely dripping with sweat - he looks exhausted.

Petasse working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Burns doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Burns manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.
Burns sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed Petasse's guard.

Burns is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.
