Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Colin Sheppard (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Joe George (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Colin Sheppard!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Joe George!
The judges for this bout are Josh West, Micheangelo Fripello and Roger Salmon.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
George will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.
Sheppard tries to clinch there but George circles away.
George connects with a high kick.


It looks like Colin Sheppard has been cut.

A swing and a miss from Sheppard.
George misses with a series of wild punches.

Sheppard decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

Sheppard is trying to work for a kimura but George is defending well.
Sheppard looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks George with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
George holds on for dear life, maintaining half guard for now.

George is defending against the submission attempts here by Sheppard.
George regains full guard. Nicely done.

Sheppard throws a big elbow that misses.
Sheppard working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage.
Sheppard throws a strike but George rolls with it and manages to sweep. Now he's in guard on top.

Sheppard working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. George doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. George manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.
George working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage.
Sheppard really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.

Sheppard seems keen to control rather than go for a submission, at least for now.

George gets to his feet and steps away from his opponent.
No joy there for George, who threw a few shots but didn't land.
George fails to land the takedown.
George shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Sheppard defends it nicely.
Colin Sheppard has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Joe George.

George moves into the clinch successfully.
George drops down looking for an ankle pick but Sheppard pulls his leg out and moves away.
A really sloppy takedown attempt there from George.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
George looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.
George looks winded!
Sheppard thows a body shot but no joy.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Sheppard closes the distance and clinches up with George, looking for a takedown. Sheppard pushes George against the cage but George circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.

George lands a leg kick. The shin dug right into the meat of the thigh.

George has managed to clinch.

George breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
George fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Sheppard avoids it really well and circles away.
George shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Sheppard but Sheppard pushes him off and we're back to square one.
The step up in weight doesn't seem to be a problem for George. He's performing admirably here against the bigger man.
Sheppard stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Sheppard wants it to stay on the feet.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
George wants to stand and escape but instead Sheppard has hit a sweep and he's now on top in guard.

Sheppard shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says George as he avoids it easily.
Joe George seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Sheppard digs a good body shot into George's ribs.

George closes the distance and clinches.
Sheppard prevents the takedown attempt.
George has had enough of the clinch and is looking to separate.
Sheppard is trying to work out of this bad position, with his back against the cage.

Sheppard breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.

George stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and George wants it to stay on the feet.

Sheppard shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts George as he jumps to the side.
Sheppard fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but George avoids it really well and circles away.
George throws a sloppy head kick
and Sheppard counters with a nice jab to the body that keeps George thinking.
George misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.

George gets to the clinch - let's see what his plan is here.
Sheppard jumps guard but George stands there with Sheppard around his waist. Sheppard gives up and drops back to his feet. We remain in the clinch.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Colin Sheppard. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Sheppard breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
George throws an uppercut from half a mile away. Sheppard sees it coming and avoids it easily.
George lands a head kick!

George scores with a kick to the midsection.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.
George goes for a double leg but Sheppard avoids the attempt and the two fighters end up clinched against the cage as Sheppard continues to drive forward.

George breaks from the clinch.
George fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.
George misses with a series of wild punches.
Sheppard scores with a shot to the body.
George thows a body kick. Sheppard tries to catch it but that hurt him.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.

The ref stands the fighters back up, due to lack of action by Joe George.
Sheppard shoots in and drives through. George sprawls well.
George avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
George fails with a takedown attempt.
Sheppard darts in looking for a takedown but George gets double underhooks and turns Sheppard into the cage.
A quick uppercut on the inside from George.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
George lands a shoulder strike that jolts his opponent's head backwards.

George breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.

And that's the end of the fight!
Joe George comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
Well George has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
