PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Teddy Head (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Felipe Silva (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Teddy Head!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Felipe Silva!
The judges for this bout are Chris Downing, Cecil Peabody and George Francis.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Silva has closed the distance and engaged Head in a clinch.

Silva's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.
Silva fails with a takedown attempt from distance.
Silva shoots in but doesn't get the takedown
and Head counters with a left and a right that stings Silva.
Silva darts in looking for a takedown but Head gets double underhooks and turns Silva into the cage.
Teddy Head has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Felipe Silva.
Head is trying to pull guard but being pressed up against the cage enables Silva to keep the fight standing.

Silva breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Silva shoots and misses
and Head counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw.

Head gets tackled into the cage by Silva. Silva maintains the clinch.

Head gets a nice trip takedown into half guard.
The referee is pacing around the two fighters - he looks like he's thinking about a standup.
Head wants to get back to his feet.

Head is looking for a kimura but Silva is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Head to get the leverage.

Silva is defending against the submission attempts here by Head.
Silva wants to control but Head is keeping busy and won't allow it.

Head wants to work for an arm triangle but Silva is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.
Silva regains full guard. Nicely done.

A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Head accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.
Head might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.
Head is looking to work some ground and pound but Silva has wrist control.

Silva is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.
Head is thwarting Silva's attempts to control the position.

Head seems to be looking for submissions.

Head stops Silva from getting back to his feet.

The fighters are battling for position here. Silva manages to regain full guard. Nice work.

The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

That was a close round but I would say that Teddy Head will probably get the nod.

Silva shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Head defends it nicely.
Silva comes forward and lands a shot to the body, then darts back out of range.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Head moves his hips nicely and gets into full guard.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

OK we're going to have a standup here. Felipe Silva hasn't been effective enough on the ground and the referee wants a restart.
Head blocks the body kick.
Silva throws a right hand that Head ducks under and follows up with a left that Head also avoids with ease.

Silva takes the fight into the clinch.

Silva tightens his grip and picks Head up, before dumping him to the ground. Head manages to land in guard.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Felipe Silva showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
Well, the break between rounds is over. Let's get back to the scrappin! This is the final round!


Head moves in looking to clinch but Silva pushes him off.
Silva throws a wild combination but nothing lands.
Silva swings away with a body shot that misses
and Head counters with a straight right hand.
Head blocks a head kick by Silva.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Silva turns his back and goes for a hip toss. It's a bit messy but it gets the job done and Silva manages to end up in side control.

Head tries to improve position but can't.
Head is working hard here to advance position.

Silva takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.
Head wants to control but Silva postures up.
Head seems a little lost for a moment, as Silva dominates the positioning.
Head is pushing Silva's head away, looking to escape. Silva manages to hold on to the position though.

Head could do with losing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.
Head pushes Silva away and creates a bit of space to escape. He's almost out here... but no, Silva gets a good hold of his legs and remains firmly in side control.

Head can't do much from the bottom here.
Silva wants to stand but Head is controlling his arm.

Head is trying to control Silva's posture but Silva avoids it.
We must be close to a standup if these guys don't pick up the pace.
Silva prevents Head from escaping the position.
Silva lands a knee to the body and follows it up with some ground and pound to the head. That will wear Head down.
Head is looking for a sweep.
Silva trying to control the position but Head is working away.
Head looks to move to half guard but instead Silva has passed into mount! Damn!
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Head is writhing around trying to get back to his feet.
Silva breaks from Head's wrist control and lands an elbow.
Head tries to hold on but Silva pushes him away.
Head is trying to escape the mount.

Head tries to control the position but Silva now has his back.

Head is being controlled on the ground here - he must escape this position otherwise surely the end is near.

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Felipe Silva comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
Well Silva has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
