PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Kurt Osiander (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Ramon Shabbaz (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). On his way into the cage it seems that Kurt Osiander has been attacked by a crazed fan! It looks like it might have been the just bleed guy! Luckily Kurt Osiander seems to be OK! I thought that lunatic was in prison!?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Kurt Osiander!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Ramon Shabbaz!
The judges for this bout are Peter Branson, Sandra Marshall and Santiago Holmes.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Osiander closes the distance and clinches.

Shabbaz has hold of one of Osiander's legs. Osiander is fighting the takedown attempt but Shabbaz gets the trip and lands the takedown into guard.
It looks like the ref is thinking about a standup.
Osiander utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.

Shabbaz cracks Osiander with a solid left hand.
Shabbaz working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage.

The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Osiander bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Shabbaz's guard.

Shabbaz throws his legs up looking to secure a triangle. Oh, that looks pretty tight, I gotta say! Osiander escapes and throws Shabbaz's legs to the side, diving into side control!

That's one minute gone in the round.
Shabbaz wants to get back to his feet.
Osiander wants to stand but Shabbaz has his arm trapped.

Osiander tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Osiander has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!

Osiander is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Shabbaz is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now.
Shabbaz tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Osiander wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control.

That's two minutes gone in the round.

Osiander goes for an armbar here - this could be all over! But no, Shabbaz has escaped beautifully and is now on top in side control! Oh, that's unlucky for Osiander but great work by Shabbaz.
The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
Osiander is moving his hips around well on the bottom and has managed to get back to half guard.

Shabbaz tries to pass the half guard into mount. Osiander knows what he's doing though and prevents the attempt.
Osiander is not content to let Shabbaz control the position.
Osiander keeps control of the position for the meantime.
Osiander works his way to full guard. Good work.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Osiander lands a beautiful switch and he's in full mount! That could spell trouble for Shabbaz!

Osiander is trying to stand up but he's being controlled by his opponent.

Osiander looking to secure an arm triangle but Shabbaz defends it well.

Osiander is looking to secure an arm. He's managed it! He's pivoting for an armbar - that looks tight! But Shabbaz has managed to get out of it and now he's in a dominant position. Nice work from Shabbaz!

Shabbaz lands a nice shot whilst sitting in his opponent's guard.

Shabbaz drops back, looking for a kneebar! Osiander looks panicked! The fighters roll across the mat, one looking to finish, one looking to escape. Osiander looks to have wriggled free... Yes, he's got his leg free and he's dived into side control! Good work there from Osiander!
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Osiander goes for an armbar! This could be all over! Wait, no, Shabbaz rolls with the submission and now he's on top in Osiander's guard! Nice work there by Shabbaz!
We've been hearing good reports from Osiander's training camp. Apparently he has been rolling around with some good quality BJJ practitioners and has been sharpening his skills. Let's see if that has an impact on the fight today.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that Kurt Osiander will probably get the nod.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.


Shabbaz wants to land a leg kick but Osiander is out of range.
Shabbaz ducks under a wild hook from Osiander.
Osiander attempts a leg kick but it's missed by a good margin.
Osiander shoots in looking for a takedown but Shabbaz manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Osiander's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away.
Shabbaz takes a jab right on the kisser.


It looks like Ramon Shabbaz has been cut.
Kurt Osiander is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Shabbaz dives in and grabs Osiander's left leg, looking for a takedown. Osiander pushes down on Shabbaz's head and hops out.

Osiander lands a jab followed by a vicious hook that sends Shabbaz sprawling to the canvas. Osiander follows him down, looking for the kill. Can Shabbaz hang on?


Shabbaz is rocked!
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.

Osiander stands, ready to strike. The ref makes him back up and allows Shabbaz to get to his feet.
Shabbaz is still on wobbly legs! Can Osiander finish him?
Osiander shakes his hands off, looking to compose himself, but takes a jab to the jaw whilst he does it.

Osiander shoots in for a takedown. Oh, that's a huge slam! Shabbaz is on queer street and Osiander is pounding down on him with a barage of strikes. The ref is forced to step in and stop the fight. Great finish!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:36 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Slam). Kurt Osiander!
