PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Demian Maia (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Sun Hui (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Maia comes into the arena with Vida Bandida blaring out of the sound system. Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 22 - 9 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Demian Maia!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 7 - 3 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Sun Hui!
The judges for this bout are Aleksei Zolotukhin, Fedor Mirinova and Aleksandr Martynov.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Hui takes one on the button.

It looks like Sun Hui has been cut.
Hui chopped to the floor by a nice leg kick but he springs right back up before Maia can pounce on him.
Maia lands with a nice low kick. That'll leave a bruise.
Maia misses with a low kick as Hui jumps back.
Hui fails to land with a series of punches.
Maia has been working on his boxing with his coaches at Araba Fenice in the buildup to the fight.
That's a knee to de groin and it's over and out! Hui crumples to the ground after an illegal strike from Maia - the referee stops the clock and Hui gets 5 minutes to recover from that one. "I'm sorry" says Maia. Hui manages to get back to his feet and the fight resumes.
Maia scores with a jab to the body.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Maia buckles his opponent's knee momentarily with a nice leg kick.
Maia lands with a slapping head kick.
Maia thumps Hui with a low kick.
Maia scores with a spinning back kick!
Hui sees a low kick coming and goes to check it, but it's actually a body kick and it thuds into his unprotected ribs.
Hui looks winded!
Maia throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
Hui swinging wildly here.
Hui takes a head kick and keeps coming.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Maia fakes a head shot and lands one to the body.
Hui on the wrong end of a nice hook.

Hui is rocked!
Maia throws a right and a left that Hui avoids nicely.
Maia lands with a big left! Hui is wobbled badly! Maia comes in with a flurry of punches and drops Hui to the floor. The ref jumps in to save him from unneccessary punishment.
