Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Jan Smeets!
The judges for this bout are Albert Achterberg, Paul Aken and Wagner Zegers.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Smeets pulls out of a head kick attempt.

Smeets throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Washington was covering up waiting for the punch and Smeets finishes the takedown easily into guard.
Washington is doing well to control the posture of his opponent and prevent any damage.
Washington controls Smeets momentarily but Smeets frees himself.
Smeets is looking to stand up but Washington won't let him.

Smeets stands and steps away. Washington gets to his feet too and we're back to the striking game.
Smeets wants to clinch up but Washington keeps it at a distance.

Smeets closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.

Smeets looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.

Washington has not gone for a single takedown so far in this fight, which seems like a very strange tactic when you consider that he has the superior wrestling and BJJ.

Smeets feints a jab promting Washington to slip. Smeets then demonstrates his capabilities by jabbing again. Washington slips again and ducks right into an uppercut.

Smeets closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Smeets lands in his opponent's guard.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.

Washington wants to control but Smeets is keeping busy and won't allow it.
