PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Hosea Castaneda (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Bob Killman (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Well, the cameraman is lingering on a pretty young lady for a bit too long there. Keep your eyes on the prize buddy or you'll miss the fighter intros!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Hosea Castaneda!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Bob Killman!
The judges for this bout are Donatello Bradman, John Mangel and Eliza Hachem.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

The fight moves into the clinch position.
Killman gets underhooks to prevent Castaneda's takedown attempt.

Killman pulls guard effortlessly.
Killman wants to stand but Castaneda is controlling the position.
Castaneda throwing strikes but missing.
Killman is looking to stand up but Castaneda isn't so interested in that idea.
Castaneda stands up over Killman, holding his feet. He dives back in and lands a decent shot to the head.
Killman is looking to stand up but Castaneda isn't so interested in that idea.
Castaneda has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
Castaneda wants to stand but Killman has a closed guard, so he can't escape.

Castaneda gets to his feet - Killman follows without any prompting.

Killman decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard.

Castaneda throws a head kick that misses.

Killman closes the distance and scores a nice trip takedown into half guard. Castaneda did well to prevent Killman getting side control.

Castaneda is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Killman pulls his head out easily.

Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Killman wants to stand but his hand is trapped. Castaneda uses the opportunity to regain full guard.
Castaneda might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.

A real slowdown in the pace of the fight for a moment, as Castaneda holds on and takes a little breather.

Killman bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.
Castaneda wants to control but Killman postures up.

Bob Killman seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Killman instigates a clinch.
Castaneda really is a fat lump.

Killman tries a knee to the head but Castaneda blocks it.
Killman misses with an elbow over the top.
Castaneda has had enough of the clinch but Killman keeps him there for the moment.
Killman using the Thai plumb to throw knees but Castaneda has his back arched nicely, preventing the strike.
Castaneda jumps guard but Killman stands there with Castaneda around his waist. Castaneda gives up and drops back to his feet. We remain in the clinch.
Castaneda wants to break free. God knows he wants to breaaaak freeee.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Castaneda jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Killman walks away with a smile on his face. Castaneda gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Hosea Castaneda. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Killman shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Castaneda's guard.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Castaneda seems keen to control Killman's posture.

That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.



Killman closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the cage.

Castaneda with a couple of shots to the head there. Not particularly brutal.

Castaneda gets to his feet and steps away from his opponent.

Castaneda blocking some punches.
Castaneda jumps guard but Killman stands there with Castaneda around his waist. Castaneda gives up and drops back to his feet. We remain in the clinch.

Castaneda turns his back and goes for a hip toss. It's a bit messy but it gets the job done and Castaneda manages to end up in side control.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

Castaneda stands up and we're back to a striking position.

The fight moves into the clinch position.
Killman is breathing heavily.
Killman throws a vicious knee straight up the middle but Castaneda blocks it with crossed arms.

Killman has managed to pull guard. Let's see whether he can work an aggressive guard. It will also be interesting to see what tactics Castaneda uses from the top position.
Castaneda wants to get up but he can't break Killman's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here.

Castaneda stands up from Killman's guard - Castaneda perhaps looking for a knockout.

Killman feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.
Killman must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.

Killman wants to stand and escape but instead Castaneda has hit a sweep and he's now on top in guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Castaneda stands up from guard. Let's bang!
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.

Castaneda shoots in with a lovely double leg takedown. Killman manages to land in full guard to minimise the damage.

Castaneda drops back looking for a leg! Killman is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Killman manages to kick Castaneda off! Castaneda jumps back into Killman's guard.

Castaneda tries to stand but can't do so whilst Killman controls his leg.

Killman fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Castaneda sprawls well initially but Killman persists and gets the takedown into half guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Killman wants to stand up but Castaneda has a hold of him and won't allow it.
Castaneda keeps control of the position for the meantime.

Killman decides he's had enough of the ground and stands up.
Killman takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.

Castaneda shoots in for a double leg but Killman sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.

Castaneda gets caught napping as Killman dives in and scores a takedown. Castaneda manages to retain guard.
Castaneda is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Killman is controlling him.
Killman wanted to stand there but Castaneda had control of the position.

A relieved looking Bob Killman thanked the fans for their support and gave the usual line about them being amazing. They seemed to believe that he actually meant it.
