PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Josef Urrah (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Owidiusz Sknerski (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Urrah comes into the arena with Johnny Cash - Oney blaring out of the sound system. I don't know about you partner, but I'm pumped for this one!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 6 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Josef Urrah!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 7 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Owidiusz Sknerski!
The judges for this bout are Aleksei Zolotukhin, Viktor Lagutenko and Fedor Mirinova.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Jab, jab by Urrah - just one landing.
Sknerski misses with a low kick.
Urrah looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Sknerski is fending him off so far but Urrah persists. Nope, Sknerski circles away and we're back to standing.

Sknerski looks more muscular than last time we saw him. He must have been on the weights.
The referee claps his hands together and tells the fighters to work.

Urrah is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Sknerski defends well.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Sknerski does a little shimmy and throws a leg kick. The leg kick missed by a considerable margin though, making him look a little bit silly for doing the shimmy.

Urrah fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Sknerski manages to avoid it.

Sknerski displays some good footwork, moving neatly out of range as Urrah throws out the jab.
Urrah looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Sknerski is fending him off so far but Urrah persists. Nope, Sknerski circles away and we're back to standing.

Urrah walks straight into an uppercut. Luckily it didn't land flush.

Urrah is looking to take a break and control but Sknerski is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
Urrah takes advantage of the dominant position to land a couple of big hammer fists.

Urrah is nestled in close to Sknerski, controlling him well. He's worked in a nice elbow to the side of the head as well, for good measure.

Urrah has freed up his trapped foot and advances to mount.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Sknerski avoids a strike by Urrah and manages to complete a very nice reversal in the process, to end up in Urrah's guard! Fantastic escape!

Owidiusz Sknerski has forced the referee to step in and restart the fight on the feet.
Sknerski does a little shimmy and throws a leg kick. The leg kick missed by a considerable margin though, making him look a little bit silly for doing the shimmy.

Urrah closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Urrah lands in his opponent's guard.

Sknerski is looking for a sweep. Urrah is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.
Urrah throwing punches and elbows but they're not doing any damage.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Urrah is just content to waste time from the top position. Sknerski takes advantage of the situation and regains full guard.

Well Urrah has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
