PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Aleksander Rugova (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Corey Cormier (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Cormier comes into a darkened arena with his song building. Pharoahe Monch - Simon Says kicks in, the lights come on and the crowd goes wild! What a showman! Corey Cormier will no doubt be trying to keep this one on the feet, where he has a distinct advantage.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Rugova blocks a head kick by Cormier.
Cormier takes a punch to the jaw and another one to the bread basket.
Rugova just misses with a punch to the body.
Rugova lands three nice shots there - that looked like it hurt!

It looks like Corey Cormier has been cut.

Rugova takes a jab right on the nose. That must have hurt but he shrugs his shoulders and looks to return the favor.
Cormier lets the fists fly and connects with a left straight followed by a right hook.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Rugova throws a head kick that misses
and Cormier makes him pay by landing a nice hook to the body before moving out of range.
Rugova misses the jab.
Cormier checks a low kick from Rugova.
Cormier avoids the head kick by Rugova.
Cormier drops Rugova with a left and a right! Oh, Rugova is hurt - Cormier dives into side control looking to finish!

Rugova is rocked!
Cormier trying to control the position but Rugova is working away.
Oh Rugova is still in real trouble! Will he be able to recover?!!
Cormier throwing shots but missing, from side control.
Rugova seems to have got his legs back now.
Cormier in side control, throwing shots but Rugova defends.

Cormier tries to score with some ground and pound. Rugova controls his posture well this time though and the shots don't do any damage.
Cormier prevents Rugova from escaping the position.
Rugova is breathing heavily.
Cormier wants to control but Rugova is keeping him busy.
Cormier laying and praying for a moment but Rugova takes advantage and regains half guard.
Cormier wants to free his trapped foot but Rugova is holding on for dear life with his legs.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.
Rugova misses with a hook.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Cormier goes to the watering hole and comes back with a big thumbs up from the judges as he scores a three punch combo.

Aleksander Rugova's cut is getting worse.
Cormier uses good footwork to avoid the strikes from Rugova.
Rugova throws a lazy head kick
and Cormier counters with a three punch combination, finished off with a leg kick. Nice work.
Cormier lands a nice leg kick that just misses Rugova's sensitive parts.
Cormier throws a right high kick that is partially blocked by Rugova.

Aleksander Rugova's cut is bleeding quite badly. He's got to try and protect it.
Cormier throws a series of punches but Rugova moves out of range.
Cormier connects with a stiff jab that staggers Rugova - oh and he follows up with a huge uppercut that knocks him out cold! Man, that was brutal!
