Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Jim Turner (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Mikah Rivers (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Jim Turner!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Mikah Rivers!
The judges for this bout are Yves DeLean, Ian Loll and William Peck.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Turner throws a head kick that misses.
Turner doesn't manage to clinch there - Rivers circles away.
Turner throws a right and a left that both miss.
Turner dodges the punch combination from Rivers.
Rivers lands a head shot.


It looks like Jim Turner has been cut.

Rivers shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Rivers showed some decent athleticism there.
Rivers slows the pace down in half guard.
Rivers tries to pass to full mount but Turner defends it.
Rivers tries to stand but can't do so whilst Turner controls his leg.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Rivers misses with a head shot. Turner uses the momentum to regain guard.
Turner looking for a sweep. Not yet Turner, not yet.
Rivers trying to control but Turner is working from the bottom.
Turner has his hands on Rivers's head, controlling the position.

OK we're going to have a standup here. Mikah Rivers hasn't been effective enough on the ground and the referee wants a restart.

Turner gets a takedown into half guard.
Rivers punching from the bottom.

Rivers is doing well to avoid being mounted. He's controlling the position at the moment.
Rivers trying to control but Turner postures up.
Rivers gets full guard.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Rivers throws some sloppy strikes off his back.
Rivers lands a beautiful switch and he's in full mount! That could spell trouble for Turner!
Rivers wants to control the pace but Turner is squirming around nicely.
Turner is desperately trying to get back to half guard.
Turner is working hard here to advance position.
Rivers controlling from mount.
Rivers trying to control but he's not successful this time.

Turner is trying desperately to improve position.
Rivers raining down hammerfists from mount.
Turner is writhing around trying to get back to his feet.
Rivers is still in mount, landing shots to his trapped opponent. Turner can't stay in a position like this for much longer.
Rivers connects with a couple of good shots from mount.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Rivers is going oldschool here, as he tries to force Turner to tap using a forearm choke. This isn't 1993 though, so Turner shrugs it off.
Rivers looking to control but Turner is working nicely, looking to advance position himself.
Turner in a bad spot here, taking shots to the head.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Mikah Rivers dominated that round.
The cut man is working on Jim Turner's cut.
That's time! Turner's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.



Rivers scores a trip takedown into side control. Nice.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Turner wants to control but Rivers postures up.
Rivers wants to control but Turner is keeping him busy.

Rivers has knee on belly and moves into mount.
Turner really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.
BOOM! Rivers connects with a massive shot to the dome!
Rivers thuds his fist into the canvas! Oooouch!
Rivers wants to get back to his feet but Turner is holding on tight.
Rivers tries to control but Turner wriggling away.

Rivers landing strikes from the mount.
Turner tries to buck Rivers off but he can't manage it.
Rivers scoring with strikes but Turner is staying in there.


Turner is rocked!
Mikah Rivers has got the better of the ground game so far.
Rivers sitting in mount, just looking to control for the moment.
Oh Turner is still in real trouble! Will he be able to recover?!!
Rivers postures up and throws a couple of big shots that have Turner in real trouble here! The ref calls for Turner to improve his position which he doesn't do, so the referee has no choice but to end the fight due to the strikes!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:57 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Mikah Rivers!
