Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Troy Roman (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Marcus Gannicus (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Marcus Gannicus is the more experienced fighter, so let's see if that makes a difference tonight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 6 - 10 - 0, fighting out of London, Marcus Gannicus!
The judges for this bout are William Gold, James Glass and James Atkins.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
A leg kick checked by Gannicus.
Gannicus keeps Roman at a distance using the push kick.
Roman throws a quick inside leg kick.
Gannicus throws a low kick but it's checked well by Roman.
Gannicus tries to score with an inside leg kick but telegraphs it and Roman is able to avoid easily.
Gannicus throws a leg kick that is checked
and Roman connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle.
Roman lands a leg kick and bounces back out of range.
Roman throws a chopping leg kick but Gannicus manages to avoid taking any serious damage.
Gannicus looks for the body kick but Roman saw that one coming.
Roman throws a lazy body kick
and Roman takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles.

Gannicus pivots as if he's going to throw a leg kick but stops half way.
A head kick misses from Roman.
Roman takes a thudding leg kick, right into the meat of the thigh.
Gannicus takes a body kick right on the floating rib. Ouchie.
Roman will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.

Gannicus throws a sloppy head kick and Roman moves out of range easily.

Roman looks to land a combination. Gannicus sees it coming but can only parry a couple of the shots.
Gannicus throws a head kick but Roman moves out of range.
A low kick from Gannicus is predictable there
and Roman counters with a one-two to the body.

Marcus Gannicus seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Gannicus misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
Roman moves out of range of the leg kick from Gannicus.
Gannicus pivots as if he's going to throw a leg kick but stops half way.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

and Roman counters with a three punch combo that has Gannicus backing up. Gannicus nods at Roman to acknowledge the strikes.
Gannicus has his front leg slapped to the side - a nice low kick landing there from Roman.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.


Roman looks to score with a combo but nothing lands.
Roman moves out of range of the leg kick from Gannicus.
Gannicus misses with a head kick.
Roman lands with a head kick! That's gotta hurt.
Gannicus throws a half hearted mid kick.
Gannicus misses with a low kick.
A slapping leg kick lands for Gannicus.
No joy there for Roman, who threw a few shots but didn't land.
Gannicus fakes with a right hand and throws a good leg kick, right into the thigh. That had to hurt Roman.

Roman misses with a jab, cross combination.
A solid leg kick lands there for Gannicus.
Gannicus throws a leg kick but Roman sees it coming and checks it nicely.

It looks like Marcus Gannicus has been cut.
Troy Roman is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Gannicus takes a solid shot to the body. That one hurt him but he's trying not to show it.
Gannicus blocks a head kick by Roman.
Gannicus throws a leg kick but Roman checks it.
Roman lands a jab followed by a nice looking cross.

Gannicus throws an uppercut from half a mile away. Roman sees it coming and avoids it easily.
Gannicus throws a sloppy head kick and Roman moves out of range easily.

Roman throws a quick head kick that skims the top of Gannicus's head.

and Gannicus counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head.

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

No joy there for Roman, who threw a few shots but didn't land.

Roman checks a low kick from Gannicus.
Roman throws a right and a left that Gannicus avoids nicely.

Gannicus throws a quick inside leg kick.
Roman is moving around nicely and scores here with a single head shot.

Roman lands with a thumping leg kick.
Gannicus swings away with a leg kick that misses.
Gannicus throws a quick inside leg kick.
A bone on bone clash there as Roman blocks the leg kick.

Gannicus turns his hip over beautifully as he lands a nice leg kick.

Roman rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Gannicus moves out of range and avoids them all easily.
Gannicus stumbles momentarily as he takes a strong leg kick from Roman.

Gannicus attempts a low kick but it misses it's target.

Roman throws a low kick, looking for Gannicus's leg but Gannicus calmly moves out of range.
Gannicus scores with a leg kick.
Roman swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.
Roman throws a nice inside leg kick.
Gannicus cracks the inside of Roman's front leg.
Gannicus throws a front kick aimed at Roman's knee but Roman avoids it well.
Gannicus tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.
Roman fakes a couple of low kicks, before throwing one on the third attempt. It connects and Gannicus has to reset his feet before getting ready to engage.
Marcus Gannicus has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!

Well, he's not going to score with shots like that. A lazy body kick attempt from Roman.
That kick from Gannicus tenderised Roman's leg. Roman is trying to keep his angry face on.
Gannicus tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.
Roman throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.
Gannicus feints and then cracks Roman's leading leg with a nice low kick. He's obviously looking to slow Roman down.
Roman scores to the head and body with a nice combination!

Gannicus throws a push kick but Roman slaps the foot to one side.

And that's the end of the fight!
That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Troy Roman.
Well Roman has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
