PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Sub Zero (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jose Gutierrez (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). I'm sure you'll be fascinated to know that I was talking to some pointless Z list celebrity before the fight and he thought that Jose Gutierrez was going to win. Let's see if he was right.

With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Jose Gutierrez!
The judges for this bout are Ryoma Takatsuka, Micheangelo Fripello and Chris Saunders.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Gutierrez dives in and scores a takedown into Zero's guard.
The referee wants the fighters to be more active or he's going to reset them on the feet.
Zero looking to hit a scissor sweep but Gutierrez is one step ahead there.

Gutierrez got a little sloppy there for a moment and Zero has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Gutierrez has managed to get both his arms back between Zero's legs - danger averted.

Zero swings around for an armbar but it's a sloppy attempt and Gutierrez is now in Zero's guard. A big mistake from Zero there, giving up the dominant position!
Zero wants to sweep here but Gutierrez controlling him for the moment.
There's a bit of a scramble here and now Zero is on top in guard.
Zero lands a couple of digs.

Zero drops back, looking for a kneebar! Gutierrez looks panicked! The fighters roll across the mat, one looking to finish, one looking to escape. Gutierrez looks to have wriggled free... Yes, he's got his leg free and he's dived into side control! Good work there from Gutierrez!
A bit of a lull in the action here.
Zero is looking for a sweep.
Zero manages to land a sweep and he's now on top! Lovely Jiu Jitsu!
Zero has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
Zero thows a huge punch but Gutierrez dodges it nicely.

Zero lands an elbow that was bordering on illegal but the referee lets it go with a warning.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Zero is still in mount, landing shots to his trapped opponent. Gutierrez can't stay in a position like this for much longer.

Gutierrez has found himself in a tricky position here. He's been working his transitions in training so let's see if he can work his way out of it.

Gutierrez tries to lock up and control but Zero gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!

Zero tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Gutierrez swivels and escapes.

Zero is looking for a takedown. Wow, that's a brutal slam - Gutierrez is in big trouble! Zero is landing strikes from the mount and this one is all over! The ref jumps in to save a confused looking Gutierrez. Poor guy.
