Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Arnulfo Winters (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Someweed Forphelas (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Arnulfo Winters!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Someweed Forphelas!
The judges for this bout are Josh West, Roger Salmon and Micheangelo Fripello.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Forphelas moves into the clinch successfully.

Forphelas decides to pull guard.
Forphelas pulls Winters in close to prevent any damage.
Winters throws a strike but Forphelas rolls with it and manages to sweep. Now he's in guard on top.
Winters wants to stand but Forphelas is controlling the position.
Winters will have to put a bit more behind his punches if he's going to do any damage from this position.
Forphelas prevents Winters from getting back to his feet.
Forphelas controlling from the top position.
Forphelas advances to half guard.
Winters wants to get back to his feet.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Forphelas stands up and beckons Winters to join him on the feet.
A head kick misses from Forphelas.
Forphelas shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Winters but Winters pushes him off and we're back to square one.

Forphelas rushes Winters and presses him up against the cage.
Winters wants to break the clinch but can't.

Forphelas successfully pulls guard.
Forphelas pulls Winters in close to prevent any damage.
Forphelas is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
Winters cracks Forphelas with a solid left hand.
Winters could do with losing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.

Winters got a little sloppy there for a moment and Forphelas has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Winters has managed to get both his arms back between Forphelas's legs - danger averted.
Winters has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player.
Forphelas pulls Winters in close to prevent any damage.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Winters has decided he wants to stand but the closed guard of Forphelas is proving hard to escape from.
Winters knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Forphelas on the ground.

Winters throws a big elbow that misses.

Winters won't allow Forphelas to sweep him here.

Forphelas has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Winters can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.
Winters wants to stand and escape but instead Forphelas has hit a sweep and he's now on top in guard.
The fighters are going at a pretty good pace and they're both starting to sweat now.
Forphelas stands and throws Winters's legs to the side, diving into side control.
Forphelas controls the position.
Winters gives up the full mount - oops, sloppy defensive grappling there!

Forphelas is standing up out of mount! Strange tactic there - he must really want this one on the feet!
Someweed Forphelas seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Forphelas tries for a takedown but Winters sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily.
Forphelas shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Winters sprawls well. Winters wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Forphelas gets slowly back to his feet.
Arnulfo Winters has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Someweed Forphelas.
Nice takedown defense from Winters. No joy for Forphelas on that attempt.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

That's time! Winters's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.


Winters stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Winters wants it to stay on the feet.
Winters moves out of range of the body kick from Forphelas.
Winters defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Forphelas.
Forphelas finds nothing but air with that leg kick attempt.
Winters darts in looking for a takedown but Forphelas gets double underhooks and turns Winters into the cage.
Winters tries to pull guard but Forphelas forces him back to his feet, against the cage.
A frustrated look appears on Forphelas's face as he tries to break the clinch.

Winters throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Forphelas works some decent striking defense from the bottom.

Winters throws an elbow that misses. Forphelas uses the momentum to reverse the position. He's now in Winters's guard. Nice move by Forphelas!
Forphelas is pushing down on Winters's leg trying to pass to half guard. Winters is fighting to maintain full guard but Forphelas has managed to sneak the leg through.

Forphelas stands up from half guard... He's had enough of that ground malarky for the time being.

Winters prevents the takedown attempt.
Arnulfo Winters has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Someweed Forphelas.

Forphelas bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Winters's guard.

Winters looking to hit a scissor sweep but Forphelas is one step ahead there.

Forphelas stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Winters swivels though and keeps the full guard.

Winters trying to strike from the bottom but really, it's not the best position to be doing that from!

A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Forphelas accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.
Winters might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.

Forphelas is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.
We may be looking at a referee standup if the pace doesn't pick up soon.
Winters is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Forphelas is controlling him.

The ref stands the fighters back up. Someweed Forphelas was stalling too much, according to the referee.

Forphelas has Winters up against the cage in a clinch.
Forphelas tries to take the fight to the ground by pulling guard but can't manage it.

Forphelas manages to pull guard. Let's see whether he can land a sub off his back.
Forphelas seems keen to control rather than go for a submission, at least for now.

Forphelas is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Winters defends well.

Forphelas not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.

The referee wants the fighters to be more active or he's going to reset them on the feet.

The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

Someweed Forphelas has forced the referee to step in and restart the fight on the feet.

Someweed Forphelas showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action! This is the final round!

Winters tries to drive through with a takedown attempt but Forphelas defends well and Winters ends up having to push Forphelas into the cage where they will battle it out in the clinch.

Winters has managed to pull guard. Let's see whether he can work an aggressive guard. It will also be interesting to see what tactics Forphelas uses from the top position.
Winters is striking from the bottom but Forphelas uses the opportunity to pass into half guard.

Forphelas is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Winters defends it well.

Forphelas is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.

Forphelas is taking a breather. Winters says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something.

Forphelas postures up and decides to stand up, from the half guard. The ref calls for Winters to stand up.
Winters shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Forphelas pinned against the cage. Forphelas gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.
Arnulfo Winters is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Forphelas throws a head kick but Winters moves out of range.

Arnulfo Winters has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Someweed Forphelas.
Forphelas takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.
Forphelas stooping low to avoid any incoming strikes and then lunges in with an uppercut come cross that lands flush.
Forphelas misses with a takedown attempt - Winters sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.

and Forphelas counters with a nice double leg into side control. Winters won't be happy with that.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Winters tries to pull guard but Forphelas holds him up against the cage and eventually Winters drops back down to his feet.

Forphelas jumps guard and drags Winters to the mat. He's obviously going to be looking for submissions off his back.
A real slowdown in the pace of the fight for a moment, as Forphelas holds on and takes a little breather.
Forphelas striking off his back but it's not causing Winters any problems.
Forphelas looking to sweep here. No luck so far.

Forphelas has his feet on Winters's hips. He pushes off and gets to his feet. Nice work.

Forphelas misses with the combination.
Forphelas lands a jab. Then a cross. Then finally a nice hook to the body. Good work there by Forphelas.
Forphelas slaps away a takedown attempt from Winters, before circling back to the center of the mat.
Winters shoots in and drives through. Forphelas sprawls well.
Forphelas tries for a takedown but Winters sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Winters stuffs the takedown attempt from Forphelas. Forphelas gets slowly back to his feet.
Arnulfo Winters has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
Someweed Forphelas is fighting for a decision - hopefully he's judged it right and he's actually winning the fight.
Winters shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Forphelas as he jumps to the side.

And that's the end of the fight!
Someweed Forphelas comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
Well Forphelas has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
