Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Jose Jones (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Mikko Sinkila (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). The atmosphere really building for this one as we go over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Jose Jones!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 3 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Mikko Sinkila!
The judges for this bout are Winston Alpacca, Santiago Holmes and Michael Johnstone.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
A head kick by Sinkila misses
and Jones counters with a nice body shot.

Jones looking for a takedown here - he's got it.

Sinkila had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Jones defends it easily.

Jones decides to stand up and beckons his opponent to follow.
Sinkila tries to clinch up.

Jones closes the distance and gets a trip takedown into side control. Sinkila quickly recovers to half guard.
Jones content to sit in half guard and control for a moment.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.

Jones is trying to control the action in half guard but Sinkila is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard.
If this pace continues, the referee will definitely step in and force a standup.
Sinkila tries to roll over but Jones keeps him under control.
Jones is looking to pass the guard... He's managed it - he's now in full mount!

Sinkila is trying to stand but he's not in a good position to be doing that! Jones has taken his back!
Jones is looking to control Sinkila but Sinkila is wriggling around and keeping busy.

Sinkila can't escape the position.
Jones misses with punches from the back.
Jones struggling to keep hold of the position.
Jones is looking cool and calm here, just waiting for a good opportunity to attack and finish the fight from this dominant position.

A bit of a pause in the action here. Jones controlling the positon.

Jones is not going to allow Sinkila to sit and survive in this position.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Sinkila is keeping busy.

Jones struggling to land strikes to the head as Sinkila covers up.
Jones misses with a punch to the head.

Jones is staying calm and holding on to the back position, whilst working on a rear naked choke. Sinkila is defending well though. Jones let's go of the attempt for now.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Jones throws a mid kick that lands with a slap.
Sinkila throws a wild combination but nothing lands.

Sinkila gets caught napping as Jones dives in and scores a takedown. Sinkila manages to retain guard.
Jones sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed Sinkila's guard.

Jones works his foot free and advances to mount.

Poor strikes thrown by Jones there. More accuracy and less frantic strikes would help!

Jones moves into side control, trying to work for a kimura. That looks painful! Will he finish!!?? No, Sinkila has worked his arm free - good work by Sinkila!
Jones is trying to ground and pound but Sinkila uses the momentary lack of control by Jones to regain half guard.
Jones is taking a breather. Sinkila says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something.

Jones postures up and decides to stand up, from the half guard. The ref calls for Sinkila to stand up.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Sinkila throws a head kick that misses.
Sinkila falls off balance throwing a combination
and Jones counters with a nice uppercut.
Jones keeps his opponent at a distance with a nice jab.
Jones lands a jab-cross combination.
Sinkila throws a sloppy head kick

and Jones moves into the clinch.
Sinkila is breathing heavily.

Jones breaks the clinch.
Mikko Sinkila seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Jones moves out of range of the leg kick from Sinkila.
Jones stuffs the takedown attempt from Sinkila. Sinkila gets slowly back to his feet.

Jones moves into the clinch.

Jones gets control of Sinkila's arms and successfully pulls guard. Jones will no doubt be looking for submissions off his back.
Jones is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Jones is taking a breather. Sinkila says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something.

Jones tries to clinch but Sinkila moves out of range.
Jones stuffs the takedown.

Jones fakes a strike and closes the distance, dragging Sinkila to the ground. Jones is now in Sinkila's guard.
Sinkila is trying to control the position from the bottom.
Jones throwing shots from guard but he's hitting more mat than opponent.
Jones trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet.

Jones passes easily into side control. Nice work.

Jones decides to take the fight back to the feet.
Sinkila takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.
Jones throws a nice head kick!
Sinkila throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Jones's waist but Jones gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Sinkila off to one side.
Jones bobs and weaves and then throws a good body kick.
Jose Jones is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.

Jones shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Jones showed some decent athleticism there.
Jones throwing punches and elbows but they're not doing any damage.

This has been an exciting period of action!
Jones prevents Sinkila from standing back up.
Sinkila is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.
Jones is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Sinkila can do to turn this around?
Jones passes to full mount!

Jones throwing sloppy strikes here. Perhaps if he tightened up his striking from such a dominant position, he'd be able to finish easier.

Sinkila is desperately trying to improve his position but Jones has a good base and remains in mount.
Jones has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
Jones trying to control but Sinkila is having none of it.
Sinkila is working to get back to half guard.

Jones sends his fist crashing into the mat - the crowd let out a collective ooooooh. Let's hope he's not broken it!

Mikko Sinkila has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!

Sinkila is just holding on here. Jones manages to take his back.

Jones is looking to finish the fight by rear naked choke. Sinkila knows exactly what he's got planned though, so he's defending well. Maybe a few strikes would soften Sinkila for a finish.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Sinkila is being controlled on the ground here - he must escape this position otherwise surely the end is near.

Well Jones has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
