PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Roberts Junior (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Dan Stall (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Junior comes to the cage accompanied by Apenas Mais Uma de Amor. Dan Stall will no doubt be looking to use his reach advantage to good effect.

Meet the Future


Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 4 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Roberts Junior!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Dan Stall!
The judges for this bout are Seu Braga, Matheus Silva and Felipe Paraventi.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Junior misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out.
Junior fails with a takedown attempt.
Roberts Junior seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Stall throws a low kick but it's checked well by Junior.
Stall rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Junior moves out of range and avoids them all easily.
Stall tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Junior was well out of range. Poor timing from Stall.

Junior shoots in for a takedown and gets it.
Stall wants to improve his position but Junior is controlling well.

Junior is trying to work for a kimura but Stall is defending well.
Stall desperately trying to maintain half guard.
Stall felt the need to train up his defensive grappling in the buildup to the fight. Presumably he was expecting to be in a difficult position like this, so let's see if he can get out of it.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Junior wants to advance to full mount but Stall doesn't think that's going to happen and regains full guard instead.

Junior has gone for a leg lock! Stall slips out almost immediately though and dives into Junior's guard.
Junior could do with losing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.
Stall is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.
Stall really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Junior. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Stall slips nicely into half guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Junior makes his way to full guard. A much better position for Junior.

Stall's corner is telling him to maintain position.

Junior is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Stall is aware though and is defending well.
Junior is breathing heavily.
Stall controls the pace of the fight for a moment.
Junior is in a tricky position. We've heard reports from his gym mates at Tenacity Elite - 17 Coaches that he's been drilling escapes, so let's see if he can get back to his feet.
The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.

The ref stands the fighters back up, due to lack of action by Dan Stall.
Stall loads up on a big right hand but Junior slips the punch.

It looks like Roberts Junior has been cut.
Stall throws a decent looking leg kick but it doesn't land clean.
Donk. Stall catches Junior right on the button with a cross.
Junior shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Stall as he jumps to the side.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Roberts Junior. That's going to take a lot out of him.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Junior rushes Stall and presses him up against the cage.
Junior has Stall pressed up against the cage and is working for takedown. Stall manages to improve position though and keeps the fight standing.
Stall lands with a good tight uppercut to the head.

A nice right hand lands inside from Stall.

Stall manages to break the clinch.
Stall slaps away a takedown attempt from Junior, before circling back to the center of the mat.
Stall thuds a left hand into Junior's body.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
A jab lands there for Stall.
Stall lands a nice shot to the body.

Stall feints and then winds up with a huge right hand that connects perfectly and sends Junior sprawling to the canvas! Junior rolls over backwards and springs off the cage and manages to regain his footing - how acrobatic! Oh, he's still wobbly - can Stall finish him?!


Junior is rocked!
Junior is aggressively charging in as Stall backs up avoiding any damage. Stall tosses out a jab and Junior runs right into it face first! Junior is out cold! Stall dropped down on all fours and is barking in Junior's face like a pit bull in celebration until the ref was finally able to pull him away!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:20 of round 1, we have a winner by way of KO (Punch). Dan Stall!
The defeated Roberts Junior had this to say: 'I want to thank the fans and say that I will work harder to not disappoint them again.'.
