Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between James Webb (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Avtomat Kalashnikov (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Webb comes to the cage accompanied by Brush Away - Alice in Chains. Avtomat Kalashnikov will no doubt be trying to keep this one on the feet, where he has a distinct advantage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, James Webb!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Avtomat Kalashnikov!
The judges for this bout are Tiny Johnson, Wesley Smith and Chris Downing.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Kalashnikov has a takedown stuffed.
Kalashnikov throws a head kick that misses.
Webb shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Kalashnikov pinned against the cage. Kalashnikov gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.
Kalashnikov doesn't succeed with the takedown

and Webb counters with a takedown into full mount! That could mean trouble for Kalashnikov!
Kalashnikov avoids a strike by Webb and manages to complete a very nice reversal in the process, to end up in Webb's guard! Fantastic escape!

Webb looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.
Webb is breathing heavily.
Kalashnikov wants to stand but Webb has a closed guard, so he can't escape.
Kalashnikov is using up a lot of energy trying to get back to his feet. Perhaps he should improve his position first.

Webb is trying to control the position from the bottom.
Webb is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.
Webb works his way into side control.
Webb lands a knee to the body and follows it up with some ground and pound to the head. That will wear Kalashnikov down.
Webb throws an elbow but Kalashnikov slips to the side and avoids it well.
Kalashnikov is putting a lot of effort into getting back to his feet here.

Webb in side control, throwing shots but Kalashnikov defends.
Webb could do with loosing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.
Webb cracks Kalashnikov with an elbow. That is naaassty.
Webb prevents Kalashnikov from escaping the position.
Webb has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
Kalashnikov dodges the ground and pound from Webb.

Webb looking to punish the body of his opponent here but Kalashnikov is avoiding damage well.
Webb misses with an attempted head punch from side control.
Webb sitting in side control, looking to soften his opponent up with elbows and hammerfists but Kalashnikov is avoiding damage well and looking to escape the position.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fight is doing enough on the ground.

Webb manages to regain half guard. Good work.
Webb has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Kalashnikov is working away from the top position though.
Webb tries to roll over but Kalashnikov keeps him under control.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.


Kalashnikov shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Webb pinned against the cage. Webb gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.

Webb fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Kalashnikov manages to avoid it.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Webb throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Kalashnikov's waist but Kalashnikov gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Webb off to one side.
Webb avoids a punch combination nicely.

Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Webb throws a strike but Kalashnikov rolls with it and manages to sweep. Now he's in guard on top.
Webb bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Kalashnikov's guard.
Webb thows a big elbow that misses.

Webb drops back, looking for a kneebar! Kalashnikov looks panicked! The fighters roll across the mat, one looking to finish, one looking to escape. Kalashnikov looks to have wriggled free... Yes, he's got his leg free and he's dived into side control! Good work there from Kalashnikov!

You can see the frustration on Webb's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.
Webb tries to improve position but can't.
Webb sneaks a leg under to get back to half guard.
Webb wants to get back to full guard but Kalashnikov has mounted him!
Webb is desperately trying to get back to half guard.

Kalashnikov blocks Webb's feeble attempts to strike from the bottom.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Webb is wriggling around trying to escape.
Webb tries to lock up and control but Kalashnikov gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away.
Webb is trying desperately to improve position.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
Webb tries to hold on but Kalashnikov postures up.
Webb can't escape the position.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

James Webb dominated that second round.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action. Ladies and gentlemen, this is the final round!

and Webb counters with a nice double leg into side control. Kalashnikov won't be happy with that.

Webb goes for an armbar! This could be all over! Wait, no, Kalashnikov rolls with the submission and now he's on top in Webb's guard! Nice work there by Kalashnikov!

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.

James Webb overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.

James Webb showed his dominance in that final round.
Well Webb has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
