These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.

The judges for this bout are Chris Downing, Stewart Dunkirk and Gwen Towbar.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Dela Cruz circles away from the clinch attempt
and Dela Cruz counters with a nice uppercut.

Reeves clinches up against the cage.

Dela Cruz manages to pull guard. Let's see whether he can land a sub off his back.
The referee claps his hands together and tells the fighters to work.
Dela Cruz pulls Reeves in to control the position.
Dela Cruz wants to sweep but no luck.

Reeves is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.
Reeves loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry.

Dela Cruz is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Reeves defends well.

Dela Cruz is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Reeves is aware though and is defending well.
Reeves throwing shots from guard but he's hitting more mat than opponent.
Dela Cruz bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Reeves's guard.
Reeves avoiding any damage from the ground and pound.
Dela Cruz throws a strike but Reeves rolls with it and manages to sweep. Now he's in guard on top.

Reeves drops back for a leg but he's not going to get it - he lets go and Dela Cruz dives on top into guard.

The ref stands the fighters back up, due to lack of action by Juan Dela Cruz.

Dela Cruz drives through with a takedown into guard.
Reeves preventing the ground and pound from doing any damage.
Reeves keeping moving, preventing Dela Cruz from controlling successfully.
Dela Cruz controls the pace of the fight for a moment.
Reeves is trying to keep Dela Cruz in close.
Reeves is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.

Reeves postures up and decides to stand up, from the half guard. The ref calls for Dela Cruz to stand up.
Reeves uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Dela Cruz.

and Dela Cruz counters by moving into the clinch. Good anticipation by Dela Cruz.
This has been an exciting period of action!
With the fighters up against the cage, Dela Cruz throws an elbow but misses.
Reeves jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Dela Cruz walks away with a smile on his face. Reeves gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

Reeves gets caught napping as Dela Cruz dives in and scores a takedown. Reeves manages to retain guard.
Dela Cruz has decided he wants to stand but the closed guard of Reeves is proving hard to escape from.
Dela Cruz postures up.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Juan Dela Cruz dominated that round.
OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.


Reeves dives in and grabs Dela Cruz's left leg, looking for a takedown. Dela Cruz pushes down on Reeves's head and hops out.
Reeves takes an uppercut right on the button but keeps his composure.
Reeves looks to clinch
and Dela Cruz connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle.


Reeves is rocked!

Dela Cruz dives in and gets a big takedown. He lands in full mount and immediately unloads a series of heavy strikes! Reeves has had enough and taps out.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:21 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (Strikes). Juan Dela Cruz!
