The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Dueck throws a nice looking combination but McGowen bobs and weaves to avoid any damage.

Connects with an elbow from the bottom, proving to the judges that he's still active off his back.

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
McGowen tries to roll over but Dueck keeps him under control.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Dueck frees up his trapped foot and advances to mount.
Dueck has his opponent pinned against the cage, landing some nasty ground and pound that is really making a bit of a mess out of McGowen's face.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Some bone on bone action there as McGowen checks a low kick. Luckily it wasn't a particularly hard one.

McGowen shoots for a double leg takedown but Dueck sprawls well. He's pushed McGowen's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.

Dueck has not gone for a single takedown so far in this fight, which seems like a very strange tactic when you consider that he has the superior wrestling and BJJ.

McGowen shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in full mount! That's better than McGowen was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!

McGowen is thinking about an arm triangle here, looking to tighten it up before moving to side control. Dueck can see it coming though and defends well with a couple of strikes to the head and some good arm positioning.
